Where the heck do I start?

So, I've been lucky enough to secure tickets to the Celebration next year (although I missed out on the weekend ticket grumble grumble grumble...), and I've decided to make that the first time I actually cosplay at an event. Trouble is, as I imagine has been asked thousands of times on here, I've got no idea where to start!

I'm looking to probably do a relatively generic "Inquisitor" cosplay, and customise the helmet somewhat. What advice can people give here about finding sources for the various pieces of that, getting the parts of the lightsabre, etc?

If you want to go Inquisitor, I would start by looking at pics of the costumes and start browsing clothing websites and/or hitting up stores and look for items of clothing that are a good match. You'll also want to look through military/police sites for things like leather pouches, harnesses, boots, etc..

Once you figure out what you can buy, then you'll know what's left for you to make. You might want to search Youtube and see if anyone else has made an Inquisitor cosplay and see what materials and techniques they used in their build to give you inspiration.

For a dark side character as well a thrift store and army surplus you could also check goth/emo/cypherpunk stores. Also fabric stores, for sashes an wraps etc to add layers. Once you’ve got a base you can add greebles and armour on top.

Start, by accepting the fact that some killjoy will always have a problem with the accuracy of your costume and be compelled to point it out to you. Realize that its about having fun and doing the best job you can. Work on impressing yourself first.
