Where does one find "Alumablack" / "Blacken-it"

I was wondering if stores such as Micheals / AC Moore would carry such items for blackening aluminum and brass? I've got a few items that I want to chemically blacken rather than paint.....it just looks better since it really is natural (albeit chemically enhanced) weathering.

If any links to online suppliers could be provided that would be helpful too. :D

I got a bottle of 'Blacken It' at my local hobby shop. Check for hobby shops that carry a lot of model railroad supplies.

If you want the stuff that works best on Aluminum, you need to get "aluminum black" But finding it can be kinda tricky, Gun stores usually carry it. I had to drive about 30 minutes to find a bottle.
Works great though.

I just went with a local plater in town and had my parts to my Vader ROTJ saber parts anodized. It was under warranty and it only cost a few bucks... about $25...:angel

Is this what you are looking for?

Does this stuff work on metal Denix guns? The Mauser for instance...

The BC Aluminum Black works for most non-ferrous metals. Specifically aluminum. I choose to use a different product for copper or brass. IIRC the Denix replicas are made from die cast metals which include an array to elements that may not react well with this chemical.

I've used it for Denix replicas.

It works. Though it does produce a bit of white residue. The residue can be cleaned up with soap and water. I put a light coat of gun oil on after I dry it.

For the Denix or any "pot metal" item, use Micro-mark's Blacken-it product. No residue and easily controlled.
