You click the envelop icon and in lower right click “start new conversation”. Conversations are the new PM. They are private and only between those you are to the conversation.

PM is now "Conversation". So you can click "Start Conversation".

Thank you for answering my questions. Private is mainly what I was looking for. I send names - addresses and payment information between myself and the client. Don't want the general forum to have that info.
