When Worlds Collide - source of Falcon mandibles?

Interesting pic. I still assume they were scratch built to come off of the circular portion of the Falcon, but that is WAY damned close.
 
And here's a bit; they're meant to slide around the ship's fin, exactly the way the Falcon locks onto its never-seen external cargo barge.
