ESB two weeks ago in my new Home Theater. ESB was always my first choice to break in my HT. It was like watching it again for the first time.

well early 90s before that special edition crap came out......that is not star wars

I deliberately didn't watch ESB from '85 to '95. When I saw it in '95, it was almost like watching it for the first time again! Obviously, having seen the film multiple times between '80 and '85, I remembered Vader's confession and Luke meeting Yoda quite vividly, but there were entire scenes I had forgotten about. IT WAS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE! I actually enjoyed the film more than I did the very first time I saw it in the theater, because the cliffhanger ending no longer bugged me.
As for my opinion of the six films, I like ranking them with spaces in between to indicate how far apart they are in my estimation:

ESB
ROTS
ROTJ
AOTC
TPM

I'm sorry. I just don't see it. All three of the OT are great for what they are.

And to answer the question I watched Star Wars on an original first print VHS Last weekend with a couple of friends of mine. I was AMAZED at the color and lighting differences in some scenes.
The original is STILL the best. It IS star wars. Everything else just fits in around it.

I remember working at a video store in 93 and we had a big setup to show off our growing laser disc collection. I'd run the entire trilogy laser discs through my whole shift, as would several of my nerdy co-workers. The owner finally forbade us from playing them :lol I used to watch the OT at least once a month, maybe more. But now I feel like I should save it, try to not over-do it and spoil things.

Growing up, we had a copy of ANH recorded off of Prism (an old movie channel like HBO) on VHS. I watched that every Sunday morning from the time I was about 5 or 6 until I was about 11 or 12. But I think the last time I watched ANH was something like 6 or 7 years ago. I love the original OT, but I just don't feel the desire to watch them that often anymore.

Years, Props have killed Star Wars for me. I can never sit through that movie with out analyzing the costumes.

Apologies an advance for dredging out the tired, age old argument but...
ROTS or any prequel can never better any of the OT in my opinion.
ROTJ get's a wierdly bad rep but it's actually brilliant compared to any of the prequels. The Emperors throne room scenes in particular, are iconic moments of cinema. How can anything in the PT compete with that? ROTS is good, but it's not better than ROTJ.
It's like saying the roof of a house is better than it's foundations. If it wasn't for the foundation, the roof would not stand. The foundations are strong, the roof is a decorative, functional addition.

I just watched ANH last night... ESB about 2 weeks ago and ROTJ... ROTS about 2 weeks ago... I watch ANH more than all the others though because it gives me that true 'Star Wars' feeling... the heroes win! The bad guys are on the run (but look really really cool)! I try to watch it all the way through a couple times a year.
My favs in order are probably:
1. ANH
2. ESB
3. it's a tossup... ROTJ and ROTS... both funky but have cool stuff in them. But because it's OT, ROTJ probably wins this slot with me
the rest don't really matter, do they? Oh, bad-ass saber duel in TPM!
I think I'd slip in the 'Clone Wars' shorts from several years ago (not the CG ones) in the 3rd place spot, if we're counting more than just movies. I wish the prequel movies were as good as these!
