wheel of time lightsaber

I've been asked to make a lightsaber based on Robert Jordan's wheel of time series. The problem is I know nothing about the series, and not sure what kinds of features to use. Any help from fans of this series would be much appreciated.

There's a type of sword in the novels called a "Heron Mark" sword that are given to "blade masters". There is an officially licensed version of this sword for sale all over the Internet. Perhaps your client wants one based off that version. Just Google wheel of time sword or heron mark sword for images. It's basically a katana with a fantasy based guard, handle and pommel.

The key trait for the swords in the series is an etching of a heron (hence the name) on the blade of the sword. Maybe you could just do a lightsaber with a heron etching on the hilt? It seems to me to be the only real way of doing it that makes sense.

Rand Al'Thor, the main hero, is supposed to be marked twice with heron (on his hand) and twice with dragon (on his arms). So a lightsaber that has both heron and dragon designs will be a good WOT lightsaber.

A famous artifact in WOT is Callandor, which is used to channel one power and suppose to glow with light when used by a channeler. One power is like the force in SW.
It actually sounds like Callandor is a lightsaber.

Making a Callandor with Heron and Dragon marks is the way to go.

Callandor is made completely out of crystal, btw.

It has been depicted with a hilt and cross-guard mostly like a medieval-style broadsword. Some paintings have had the blade be single-edged and slightly curved like a saber-variant or katana, others with a double-edged straight blade.

How about a faceted crystal-looking "lightsaber" blade? I'm not sure how that would be done, however... I would look at maybe gluing PETG sheeting - it is a bit more flexible than acrylic and therefore not as hard.

Only real guidelines I've been given so far is he doesn't want a blade, and to look at the books cover art. I did that with a Google image search, and I'm still lost. I'm thinking the top half will have a wrap in either blue or green, with a gold wire spiral, a katana like tsuba similar to one of the replica weapons I found, (the windlass heron mark sword I believe) with the emitter being a double angle style. Inner tube cut at one angle, outer in the other, to represent the claymore like part of the guard. At the activation switch, I'm thinking the heron mark on one side, the Dragon on the other, carved in. I'm thinking of either going with a d-ring belt system due to the nostalgic feel of this project, or maybe go old republic and make a sling sheath for it. Also, I've found an emblem with three rings one with what looks like blades in it sometimes with a snake I believe, (don't have it in front of me, and my heads all over the place right now) is this an emblem just for the series, or something from within the mythology?

I'm going to be starting on this soon. Just found out it's a b'day present for his 16 y/o son. He's very much on a budget, so going to be tossing in some freebies with it. I'm thinking a display box.

Who knows what the best way to make a transfer to lay a pattern down for engraving? Also I'm currently without a computer, but need to make something special for this project. On the wooden gift box I want to brand the lid with this emblem. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/30/04/00/300400f2a59c8e9e4b8950df5bb46c9d.jpg

But inside the two circles made by the snake, I want the rebel and imperial emblems inserted. I however can't do so without my computer. Is anyone out there willing to help me out with this? Pretty please?
