What's your favorite Cold War film?

"Running Scared", not the Billy Chrystal/Gregory Hines movie, but the one with Ken Wahl and Judge Reinhold from 1980 or 81. I think it was renamed "Desperate Men".

Red Dawn
The Experts (just before Travolta was rediscovered).

Do you mean, The Soldier? Ken Wahl walked into the bar I was working at in 1990. I told the d.j. and like a dumb ass he stopped the music and annouced it. He left immediately.

No, Running Scared. From IMDB:

In 1961, Chas and Leroy, two fun-loving military serviceman who had enough of the service, leave Panama as stowaways in a military cargo plane flying for the States. Leroy is not satisfied with compensation for his army days, so he smuggles with him one box of military supplies, which he plans to sell in the USA. He tries out a military camera on some military base they fly over and throws away the photos. In the states, an army cleaner finds photos inside the plane and alerts his superiors. They think the stowaways are communist spies and the base starts a frantic search.

How about mini-series? Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Smileys People. Real spies thinking on their feet. Alec Guinness is great.
I *REALLY* wanted to add TTSS to my list - it was actually on there before I posted it, but I wanted to keep the discussion on movies. Not that I mind you mentioning it at all - it was a BRILLIANT series - on par with I, Claudius! And if we're talking mini-series, how about The Company:

Absolutely, da! :lol

I listed Dr. Strangelove and The Russians are Coming - both cold war spoofs.

One of my favorite scenes from the movie:

Austin Millbarge: "Doctor."

Wow. There are three different films called Running Scared. I like the Crystal/Hines one the best. :thumbsup

As far as Cold war films go, I'm partial to Hunt For Red Oktober and Dr.Stranglove.

Ones that I like...

"Stripes"

"Thirteen Days"

"Dr Strangelove"

"Fail Safe"

"The Day After"

Do "2010" and "Red Heat" count? :)

But for my favourite- it's a tie between "Red Dawn" and "Firefox"! :thumbsup

Hopscotch is one of my all time favorite movies. It's more about Kendig than the conflict itself, but I think it could be considered a Cold War film.

The Manchurian candidate
Wargames
Dr. Strangelove (True story, the first time I ever saw Dr. Strangelove was at a screening at the nuclear power plant my dad worked at.):lol
does The Road Warrior count?

Just remembered another miniseries from 1989 called Brotherhood of the Rose with Robert Mitchum, Peter Strauss, and David Morse, about 2 orphans raised as brothers by a CIA instructor to become super-agents & assassins. Not exactly top-tier, but I remember I liked it.
