What's up with Chewbacca's toes in ESB?

I know.... another stupid Star Wars question, but I always love reading peoples analogies on Star Wars questions.

On Hoth he has no toes but everywhere else he has protruding toes.

So do his toes shrink in cold weather?

I don't know about his toes, but I bet something else shriveled away in terror out in that cold while he was shooting that probe droid with his home boy. You just know he had ice and snow stuck or frozen to just about everything.

He actually has at least two different sets of toes in the original trilogy, possibly three, and they alternate from scene to scene.

These just look like a pair of brown slippers with claws on them.

Then you've got these, which sort of look human and have some clearly defined toes (they are the feet they are now on display at WSMI)

Then you have these, which are sort of a cross between the two. However these feet never appear anywhere else except in recent BTS photos and the SWiC Chewie which has a fake bandolier, so it's possible these were made recently for the purposes of archive displays and were not actually used during the production.

:lol I just saw that Seinfeld episode where they talked about it happening when it's cold so this made me laugh even harder.
