What's On My Workbench?

Yeah, I'm thinking something opposite of energy drinks would need to be consumed to sit there and go, "Dot....dot...dot...(Repeat 3,000 times)"

Looking to appear to be another series of solid paint-ups, J! (Insert frangadakin joke here)...

Getting a chance to work on the Huntr that Daman sculpted for me. Going to customize it, and started by cutting the sides off.

hooray! about time man! i cut out the front part of the mouth on mine. it still needs a repaint though.

By the time I'm done, I want it to be similar, but not the same. I want to put some kind of layered design on the front dome, and then do something with the rounded cheeks. For the mouth, I was thinking either jutting it out a little more like a bulldog, or making it more like a jaw...still contemplating that one.

Sorry it took me so long, but since I wanted to customize it, I saved it for last because I know its gonna take a long time...

Yeah thats pretty cheap compared to here... €25 ($35) per block in any shop. So you can imagine 40lbs is the equivilant of $700...
PS really like what you;re doing with the HUNTR bio

That's right on par for price for me, Jason, exchange rate included, and I pick mine up, as well.

I would recommend, before you crack all that open, about thinking about your armatures and coming up with ways to decrease how much clay you need for each sculpt. An example being my next hand sculpt. Though I built a solid armature for both hands, I will be going back and making a new one for my right hand. It will be constructed out of aluminum armature wire, attached to another pipe, and wrapped in foil to build up the mass and shape. this not only cuts down on how much clay I will need, but unlike the Ultra Cal form, I will be able to repose the fingers for a more "natural" mold and cast, after the sculpt is completed (Hopefully, hehehe). The use of foil can also be used in the creation of Pred heads. I really like how one member (Forget whom) glued a leftover bowl to the human head. Again, with the use of foil, clay use can be cut down even further. The point of all this is A) Sculptures will not be as heavy multiple projects can be started at once.

It's about damn time you started sculpting, you creative slacking *******!

Thanks for the advice Brad. I'm going to pick up some of that expanding foam in a can and creatively use that to make my armature. I originally was going to get half the amount of clay, but because its a long drive to pick it up I figured I can always use more when I start a head. I have to finish off the Huntr Bio and build the armature. I'm excited and nervous about working with a new medium, but I know this is the direction I need to go - thanks to all you guys for pushing and encouraging me.

Dude, MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES when you use that stuff. It also may be worth picking up some of their new Work Wipes to clean up the UNCURED foam. The ONLY way to take cured Great Stuff off of anything (Including skin) is sandpaper and razors, so plan and mask things accordingly. Had a girl show up at lacrosse conditioning with yellow hands. I asked what happened. She (And her teacher?!) thought it would be "cool" to try and mold it like clay. Yeah, she had fun that night, lol...
