What To Do With Polar Light Planet Of The Apes

Hello I had an idea years ago when Polar Light Re-Released the four Planet of the Apes models!
I wanted to make something unique and functional! And as you can tell it has needed modifying as new DVD box sets replaced old VHS box sets and a new movie was released but I finally managed to collect ALL the Ape material and display them together! This is, of course, before I found out the cartoon, being released on DVD! Oh Well!!
A lot of work went into the right side base as it faced the wrong way! That alone took up most of the work with this display! Other modifications were mostly cosmetic, like turning hands to look more natural or as in the case with Cornelius and Dr. Zira to made it appear that they are holding hands!
Dr. Zaius and General Ursus also had minor corrections along the same lines!
The only thing I could not nor would not touch was the Generals right leg, "damn it Jim I'm a modeler not a doctor"! The toe is pointed away from the torso and he's flat footed! Very odd angle!
So here are some shots! Let me know what you think and what you might have done differently had it been yours!

I have got to figure out what I am doing wrong cause these little pictures are getting annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

Very clever- the only thing I may have done differently is paint the Gorilla's undersuit the dark Plum/purple color rather than brown.

Nicely done !

I guess the challenge for all of us is that models do take up space. To be able to give them some practical purpose is all the better. IIRC, the Addar figures were like many Aurora figure kits, very simple and in some cases, not that close to their real-life counterparts; looks like you have done a good job on them.

A planet where bookends were made out of model kits? It's a mad house! A MAAAAAD HOOOOOUUSE!!!!

:lol

Thanks to all for the comments! They are appreciated and welcome!
And yes phase pistol it is most definitely a "MAAAAAD HOOOOOUUSE!!!!"
Pauleysolo I used what reference I had at the time and to be honest I thought it was a dark plum and just a bad picture! So I went and gave a look and it is brown so I guess I messed up somewhere!
In order to accommodate my changing movie collection all the pieces are actually screwed together! When I get a chance I will remove the right side and take a pic of the underside to show how much I had to modify!
Truth be told I attach most of my figure kits to their bases with screws! Makes it a lot easier to change later if something better occurs to me!

I've often wondered about the actual color of the gorillas' undersuits. When I watch the movie on dvd the color of the undersuit seems to change--in some scenes it's the purplish/plum color you've mentioned, in other scenes it appears to be a medium/dark brown. Considering everything else in the Apes world is done in varying shades of earthtones, purple/plum seems like an odd choice. :confused

BTW Petseal, well done! I have these four kits in my stash and I've often thought of combining the Cornelius and Zira figures on the base that comes with the Zira kit; if I didn't like the base that comes with the Cornelius kit so much it would be a no-brainer, but... Maybe I just need to buy two more kits. :p
