The guys at MR seem to be going down ICONS alley....they HAD great sw stuff that was affordable such as the medal of yavin (sadly under produced) and the thermal detonator (probably the BEST they have made)

NOW there new catalog has "Narnia" "jack sparrow" "hobbit"and assorted crap from other movies that do not have the collector base as STAR WARS....HELLO MR?

are these guys dying a slow death? they were onto a great thing....I miss being excited by there product...

OK , if ya need some suggestions to make some cash here goes....STICK WITH STAR WARS. and ya wanna make an instant sellout item? how about a GUNBELT for the solo blasters ya been cranking out? HUH? cheap, east to do..etc....i wont even charge ya for the good idea...

How about a BOWCASTER. i think they have been begged to do that for a LONG time from fans, how about some trooper buckets if LFL is gonna FRY poor SDS....? who the hell wants a prequel troop helmet that wasnt even really made for the movies? ICK... thats there big item now?

is it just me? curt solo....

Well they confirmed the Bowcaster when discussing the merger on the RebelScum forums. Should be out next year for the 30th anniversary.

Blaster holsters would be awesome if they came with the droid caller and other accessories.

Bowcaster is next year. They got thier hands on an original prop.

They're also putting out the Vaders' Tie Studio Scale.

Dunno about the inexpensive props, but they are a PROP company, and not everyone wants Star Wars. Hense why they are branching out to try other lines. If they aren't popular, they won't continue them (Like Lord of the Rings, Alas.)

Especially considering the fanbase really couldn't support the non Iconic items (can you say Emperor's cane). I mean, what's left in the SW list that seriously could be considered? We've been Sabered to death, the bulk of the blasters from major characters have been done, the larger weapons get a bit cost prohibited. yeah they still have the Studio Scale models, but you can only saturate the market with that sort of thing so much at a time.

I'm glad they've diversified, and the other lines are pretty fan accessible so they are heading in the right direction IMHO

The Star Wars films are finished. No more movies. There, I said it. We "Star Wars Lifers" are now raising a new generation of Star wars fans, but it's going to be a few years before our kidos are old enough to afford MR products themselves. MR is going to have to find new licenses for current films in order to keep the doors open. Pirates of the Caribbean seems like a good option with one more film yet to be released. Depending on the strongth the next Narnia films are, that may be a good franchise to be a part of as well.

Star Wars isn't dead by any stretch of the imagination. There are still good pieces yet to release (like the Chewie's bowcaster), but they are quickly running out of the truely iconic items. There aren't enough hardcore fans looking for the "background" items to support the company (the Rebel blaster and Palpatine's cane are perfect examples). The Studio scale models are so expensive that they can be release too quickly. Folks need time for their accounts to recover before they can buy the next one.

MR is doing well to reach out for new material. If they don't, they won't last long enough to get out an Imperial Guard helmet or studio scale X-Wing.

I'm happy to see MR branch out from Star Wars. I've had about all I can stomach and I only currently own four Star Wars pieces.

:)

Well, I thought the Trek offerings were ok, but could have been done better, less expensive and more of them. Has anyone seen the price of a MR TOS Phaser lately? OMG.

Helmets, and masks I have to wonder why MR has not done these to death. Seems like they could sell a boat load of Trooper Helmets if they were priced right.

Aliens, IMHO the Motion Tracker was a good start, but too obscure to really catch on. Now, the M41-A, well, gotta love that, but sadly, is that project ever going to see the light of day?

POTC, LOTR, HP and other IMHO are not old enough to generate the sort of fan base, like Trek, SW, or even Aliens. 5-10 years from now, yes.

IMHO for what it's worth.

Strange you should mention a manager running with the cash. This wanted ad is on the top of MR's blog.

Scaled, not 'studio scale'... 24" or 32" would do the trick.

...and put that Falcon in the shadows where it belongs... ;)

Bring on the Indy props.
I want a golden idol gosh darn it.

Yep. I would buy that.

I wouldn't mind a Bladerunner blaster and studio scale spinner with lights too.

A studio scale TIE and X-wing would be cool too. I bought the Y-wing but man the costs are still nasty.

I think they are offering plenty of items right now. You cannot demand too much from your core consumers beyond their spending capacities.

They have the Disney license, that in itself is one heck of a strong franchise if they take advantage of it correctly.
The Star Wars franchise will heat back up when the live TV show starts. Then there will be plenty for whomever holds that license.
I am sure other licenses will come to play as more films come out.
Corgi also will have some franchises they can work from.
If they have vision and the where whith all to go forward, they can be successful. It is just the question of if they are stuck in the mode that has brought on the last 6 months or more of mistakes or if they are able to bring themselves back up to snuff. That's to be seen. As well how the merge will affect their ability to produce in the future.
