What steps did the ANH stunt helmets go through to become ESB?

So we know the difference between the ANH stunt and ESB, black frown, decals, trimmed eyes and repainted. But I’d love to understand the steps that were taken, we’re they deconstructed for this work, was the original paint stripped before being repainted, or were they just sprayed over, were they hit with another coat of primer first or gloss white straight over the original coat? Thanks!

It looks like they were just resprayed in one piece as seen by the mic tip, presumably it was masked (poorly) for the over spray. Do you thing there was any prep on the helmet, maybe a gentle and or a coat of primer, or just sprayed right over with white??

Judging by how fast prop/costume departments have to work, I'd think they were just sprayed over directly. No time for primer, prep, etc...
