What rifle is this?

That's not a BAR, the trigger guard is too round and the sights are way off. do you have a picture of the other side of the rifle?

looks like a bren lmg, hard to tell what mk. maybe a late mark 2?

No - Hoosier and Blaxmyth are right. Definitely an 1917 Enfield/Eddystone type bolt action, set in some kind of shop made metal stock. You can easily see the round receiver, the bolt release, the shallow fixed magazine, and the rear sight ears. (that rear sight assembly is pretty distinctive and hard to miss.)

It ios a p14/p17 us and uk ww2 weapon 303/ 30/06 cal as seen at beginning of dads army tv prog hope this helps.
 
It's an old Eddystone reciever (M1927) with the finish stripped and some metal bolted onto it...weird.
