What ONE prop has made it into the most movies?

Colt 1911 semi-auto pistol.

From early war films right the way up to modern day cop shows and flicks, because it's still in service and is one of the most popular weapons in history.

Sam Raimis 1973 yellow Oldsmobile Delta 88 aka "The Classic" appeared in every one of his films since Evil Dead. Including 'The Quick and the Dead' (Disguised as a wagon) and even appeared in 'Drag me to hell' which he produced. I'm pretty sure at this point it's a static prop :p

Where is it? I mean besides starship troopers.

well

Starship Troopers
Starship Troopers 2
Firefly (the Train Job) painted purple

and after a quick trip to Wikipedia
Planet of the Apes (2001)on the SWAT team at the end
Imposter with Gary Sinise
Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy

and I know there's more... I've seen it in several movies

It is in I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry as a Halloween costume.

I know that the computer wall prop used in the back of the semi
truck in KNight Rider was also used in Star Trek 2. (Shatner redoing
the Genisis speach, it was behind him). I also know it turned up in
one scene of the New Knight Rider before it got canceled. I am sure
that prop has been in multiple shows as well.

Here is a picture of it on Knight Rider

Here it is behind the Shat.

I guess this can be rented from Modern Props.

Although not in a lot of movies..Ben's chest (box) that he pulls Luke's father's lightsaber out of returned for a role in Superman the Movie as the lead lined box that Luthor hid the kryptonite in.

If we're going to list guns then one of the most used in scifi has to be the old Calicos, they've been used in various forms as alien or future military guns because of their (then) futuristic looks.

DAMN! Beat me to it. It was also seen in several eps of Star Trek: Next Generation as some random bit of technical flotsam in the background. Used frequently, IIRC. I think it was also used in Airplane II in the Shatner scenes.

I whole-heartedly agree that this is the top, most re-used prop in Hollywood.

It's also in STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER and THE INCREDIBLE HULK RETURNS (TV movie, as well as an episode or two of TIH series, as I recall).

We ought to get a group build/ research project going for this thing! :lol

I don't know what I'd do with one, but I'm sure I could figure out something!

Stand for a plasma screen TV maybe? :D

Is that TRUE? I can't believe I've never heard this before! That, my friend, is very cool.

Can someone get some screencaps?

Your kidding right?
there have been several threads on it over the last few years.

The Ennis House tiles where in a episode of CSI Vegas a few weeks ago in a hotel room.

It's so funny, when I first saw the tittle of this thread, I immediately though of that prop/set piece. :lol I'm glad to find after reading the thread that I'm not the only one to think of it.

I remember over a decade ago, when I was first getting in to props, I saw a documentary, (or some sort of interview) that went through a prop rental warehouse. That was one of the props they pointed out, and then a season, or two later I noticed it on Voyager, and after that I started noticing it in everything, new, and old. I would love to have one, even though I have nowhere to put it.

Sam Raimis yellow Delta 88 also came to mind right off. I always look for that, and Bruce, in all of his films. (my mom had a red delta 88 back in the day. I wish she still had it, because I would get that sucker a repaint, and call it a props. :) )

If you where to count TV shows, Firefly had a ton of hand-me-downs.

Counting Guns, or badges, is a bit like counting priest collars. If it's really life standard issue, I don't think it should count. yes, they are props, but if your going to count them, you might as well count the cheese burger, and pizza. (mmmmm cheese burger, and pizza. :))

If replicas, and pieced together parts, count I would say Vader's costume. (well ok, it's a costume, but it has prop parts to it. ;) ) Not only were versions of it through out the star wars films. but that "character" (armor) has showed up in any number of other movies, TV shows, and commercials (I've seen a number of shows where they go out and ask folks on the street if they recognize certain political figures, and more folks recognized Vader then some of the most influential real life figures of our time. :( )

Do people like Bruce Campbell (in Sam Raimis films ) and William Shatner count? Lets face it they are not there for there acting, so they pretty much are props. (though I actually did like Shatner on "Boston Legal" even if he was most a prop)
Oh, and as far as being able to display them, I'm sure for the right price Shatner would come and set on a shelf in your home.

Oh, and though not a prop, costume, or set dressing, "Klaatu Barada Nikto" has been used to death, in film and, TV.

Yes on the Ark II and Space Academy but according to an article I found it was not the Landmaster.

From the site.

First off ARK II (a 15 episode Flimation series form 1976) had nothing to do with Damnation Alley's landmaster! Really! Stop taking about it it messes up people searching for the Landmaster it on the internet. Just like the sentence above will do in a month or two : ) While the vehicle in ARK II was very cool it was taken apart the next year to become the front of the Strar Seeker in Space Academy. Ark II page coming next year!
What was the movie all anout anyhow? check out the Stomp Tokyo review!

The Ark II also turned up in a small movie called "A.P.E.X." It can be seen in a scene in a war-torn future.

Well, there's one prop I've seen. I can't describe it, but it's been used in three productions that I know of. The first time it was used, it was a security control panel from "Knight of the Drones" in "Knight Rider." It then showed up as the gas pump controls in "RoboCop." And then it turned up again in "Knight Rider 2010" as a virtual reality gaming system. I do also believe it turned up in an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", but I can't be sure. I've got "RoboCop" on DVD, I'll try to get a screencap of it as soon as I can.
