What movie is this blaster from?

I forgot, the people that actually *knew* stuff left this place long ago.

Sad, but true. Since we are on the subject, I think you are ALL WRONG! This is clearly from that film that, in the end, went black and all the white-lettered credits started rolling up the screen.

It doesn't look like timecop. Never seen it before. Its looks very cool though.

Y'know how something starts really funny, then is escalated to the point of being abnoxious and rude to the person who originally asked for help in the first place? Yeah.

Had to second this. The funny was gone after about 3 posts. I wish I could help you out here Java, but I'm drawing a blank on the origin of this prop.

Uh, it's not like they're purposely witholding some vital information just for the sake of cracking jokes. It's not like he's missing out on anything because people are having some fun with it, so I don't see what your problem is. :unsure The thread would only have 3 or 4 posts in it if you took out the people making jokes and the people complaining about those people, so if anything they're helping him by keeping the topic bumped on the first page.

I was not trying to be rude and if the OP feels that is the case then I am sorry for that.

I personally did what I could to find what the gun was from, as I am sure others who posted did too.

Like the others, it was merely an attempt at a bit of fun while keeping this thread going as I did want to see what it was from, and hopefully have one of those "ahhh..thats the one" moments.

So, Javamonkey, I have never seen the gun before, to me it looked like some kind of converted nerf type gun looking at the very front of the gun. But that was purely a guess, as I really can not picture it in any movie or TV series I have watched.

I am dying to know just what it really is from and sorry for derailing your thread. I am just glad there are not bigger problems in our lives and will now go and wear the stone of shame.

I think it gets more funny with every post.

But not nearly as funny as that other thread. You know, where that guy says that thing, and the other guy gets really pissed off and says something that just doesn't make any sense. But it's that much more funny anyway.

It was used in the sequel but in the flash back scene from the 1st movie, so in fact it was from the original but it wasn't shown on screen till the sequel. The third movie is when they put nipples on it and it was downhill from then.

Sir, I do not appreciate your mockery of our mockery. Please mock seriously next time. Have some respect.

EDIT: I also spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, but my google-fu has failed me. I am ashamed.

I'm almost positive it's a modded Nerf gun someone cast up. If it was actually used in a production, it was either a low budget sci-fi channel MOW, or possibly a high budget commercial. Unfortunately, thats the best I can come up with.

...and then the one guy gets all high and mighty and posts a link to the other thread, where it's already been discussed for the past three days, and you're a moron for not knowing how to use the SEARCH feature-

...and then the third guy says that he has actually held the filming hero prop and has dozens of photos, but he made a promise 30 years ago to the fourth guy who owns the hero prop, and he can't break his promise and show the photos online, but trust him he knows this is a poor casting of the original prop-

...and then a fifth guy calls into question the third guy's story and basically says "prove it," and the third guy says how dare you question his veracity, and he actually has held the hero prop, when he was visiting his second cousin's father's former college roomate, while visiting in London-

...and then someone mentions the sixth guy, who worked on the film 30 years ago, and was hired to make styrene pulls from the original metal prop, to be used as stunt props for background characters, and now says he owns the rights to mass market the styrene pulls 30 years later, because he "manufactured" the originals for the movie and its sequel/prequel-

I was actually the star of this film and this was my sidearm. I remember it vividly. I hung around the prop shop as they were building it so I could totally do a run of hero props as I know all the parts that were used on the original.

Look for an interest thread soon, for "That Movie Gun from the Movie I was in"

I've really been looking at the thing now, and it just screams fifth element. The big buttons, the front grip looks out of place, it's over sized to be a hand gun, there is no noticeable clip or chambering mechanism and it looks like it would be easy to glue a bunch of stuff to.

I wonder if it's the gun the guy has with the picture of the ally on top his head was carrying ?

If I could stand to look at that horrible movie again, I'd go back and watch for it. It just reminds me of the stuff I saw in that monstrosity.

If I'm wrong then it must be from that other move that that guy was in :lol

It could have been one of the many guns that bruce have in his collection when he takes the gun from the guy with a picture on his head.

Yeah just looking at what it is, Over user friendly, completely dysfunctional and kind of a hodge podge of parts that don't really look right together. I'm leaning toward the fifth element.

Maybe someone that can stand that (I don't know the word to use) can watch it and get us some screen capts if they see something like it.

I looked over that scene, and there's really only about 3 shots where its in. When it first comes down, when you see it over bruce's shoulder as he holds the gun in the guy's face, and when it goes back up.

The first two times, it looks like they are all big rifles. On the 3rd one, there is a 'basket' at the bottom which has a bunch of crap stuffed in it. Looks like a leather belt, boxes of crap, a Korben gun, a Colt .45 and some other misc crap.

I think the base grip is from a paintball marker, but it could also be an aftermarket M4 grip too.

My first thought was maybe one of the alliance weapons from Serenity, but they tended to be pretty big, outside of the pistol made for the Operative at the end (which this is not).

But, after your mention of Nerf, perhaps we're just looking at a seriously kitbashed, franksteined prop.

:)

It has a kind of Judge Dredd vibe to me, but I assume if it was something that the fourth or fith perp from the front was wearing then everybody would be saying so.

I have to mention that dissing of The Fifth Element - THE bande desinnee/Hollywood crossover of 1995 - is sore evidence of humourlessness. ;p That film was loud daft fun in almost the same way that Starship Troopers was.
