What is the worst film of 2012?

GBA started a thread about what was the best film of 2012.

I was surprised to see some people had Prometheus on their list of best films - I would put it here.

I know I will get some grief from some on the forum and I agree it looked fantastic, but the script, the story ... Definitely makes this list. Sorry if that offends anyone

I AM OFFENDED BY THE OFFENSIVENESS THAT IS YOUR OFFENSE!!!

No, just kidding. I cannot recall every movie I've seen in this past year, but I have a very, very large collection of movie stubs (I have a stub from every movie I've seen since The Rock came out in 1995/96). And I haven't cleaned out my wallet in the past year judging by the amount of stubs in there. (The oldest stub in my wallet is from 12/3 when I saw the Muppets)

So judging from those movie stubs......my worst movies of 2012 (That I remember seeing and have stubs for)

Snow White & The Huntsman (Visually appealing, Charlize & Thor did a fine job. But the dwarves & Kristen Stewart were just awful).

Battleship (Not sure what else needs to be said. Pros: Brooklyn Decker is very pretty, and the visuals, again. But the rest......ugh.)

Wanderlust: A really stupid movie. It was like "My Idiot Brother" and the rest of these dramadies. They cannot decide if they want to be a full fledged comedy, or a romantic movie. Don't really like those movies unless they are very good. This was just a screen filler.

Chronicle: I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS. I saw it, twice. The story, is pretty great. Even the camera/filming choice doesn't bother me like it did w/Cloverfield and every other movie like it. But I cannot get past the main character/villain coming off/being a HUGE WHINY WEINER!!! The kid was very annoying throughout the movie. I mean, truly awful. His voice, his actions, his attitude. I can say he must be a very good actor, because I came out of the movie wanting to punch him. In his face.

Woman In Black: Cannot really even remember much about this one. HP wasn't so bad, but the whole movie, it wasn't even scary. It was just some noise.

Haywire: Action was great. Those fight scenes are really excellent. But the story and the actress (Gina something.. right?) was stupid. She was a horribly stiff actress who at certain scenes was carried by her partner at the time. Probably my favorite of the least favorite list though.

Finally, in what I will call the worst movie of 2012 (I think it came out on Xmas of 2011, so it may be disqualified....... )

SHERLOCK HOLMES 2. Maybe it was the Old Country Buffet we had before, but me and a friend went to see this movie, after really liking the first. Excited to see this movie.......

I fell asleep within the first 20 minutes because it was so awful, and woke up and the final battle was ending. Take that for what you will, but I have only ever fallen asleep during 3 movies in my life, including this one. The others being "The Matrix 2" & "Judge Dredd".

Both awful.

That is my list. Sherlock Holmes 2 wins. If not that, then Wanderlust or Woman In Black.

Dozer,

I completely forgot about Battleship! I kept asking myself WHY? Why did they do this? Why did they make it so badly?

Like the pic!

I agree with Battleship. If only Liam Neeson had more screen time and if Rihanna was never cast, it would have infinitely been much better.

That is literally just what was in my wallet. Not even all the movies I've seen this year. Any stubs/movies seen after Spiderman are sitting in a pile on my dresser. I have to move these stubs to my permanent pile.

But agreed, the only question you can ask for that movie was WHY? I even convinced myself that night that "The action will make up for the other stuff, It will be decent". I was wrong. Not even Rihanna could save that movie. I didn't mind the Rihanna casting, but I wish she was not in uniform. That is the male in me, not the movie fan.

Brooklyn Decker helped, but her wounded costar was just as annoying as the kid from Chronicle. He was terrible. TERRI-BULL!!! And I don't mean his acting, which was pretty bad too. He was just a very annoying character. Giving people crap at every step of the way.

But I still liked this movie more than SH2, Woman In Black & Wanderlust. Somehow, maybe it was the explosions. Actually, it was probably Brooklyn Decker & Rihanna. If only Rachel McAdams was in SH2 for more than a minute, I would have thought better of it. Probably not though.

Of the movies I have seen this year, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance gets my vote. They pretty much took all the aspects of the character that make it interesting and said "screw it, let's make a modern horror film and throw some action scenes in it and call it a movie".

Keith lemon the movie. UK film the guys funny on hisntv show but this film was just so bad I left the cinema angry.

Ghostrider 2 NIC cage should stop making films

This thread made me realize I haven't watched one movie that was made this year yet and didn't miss anything.

Red Dawn and The Borne Legacy both get my vote

Dont say that about Bourne. I didn't see that movie (I don't know how or why, but didn't), but I love the Bourne franchise and wanted to and will see this movie. But that is disappointing that it was......disappointing.

As long as Nic Cage needs money, Drive Angry's & Ghost Riders will still be made.

Is this the thread where I admit that I still haven't bothered to watch Avatar?

:lol

I don't like to type any TEXTSPEAK, but that was very much LOL worthy. I did literally, laugh out loud. But yeah, you aren't missing much. It may have been one of the greatest things I have ever seen. And by that I mean, truly, especially in 3-D, visually stunning. When Sam Worthington's character first wanders through the forest at night, it is like nothing I've ever seen before. But the movie itself leaves much to be desired. But again, watching this movie at certain points, is like watching moving art.

Just the movie kind of......well.....isn't all that great.

Now hang on, you must not have looked at my movie tickets above. Because you missed such classics as Contraband & Act Of Valor & Chernobyl Diaries......

:facepalm Ok. Maybe you didn't miss much. But at least we have the Avengers to fondly look back on. Wait, you did like the Avengers, right Wes?

Hands down, the worst film of 2012 was "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter".
Everything that made the book an entertaining read was absent from the film.

The make-up was horrific, especially "older Lincoln", the CGI was unacceptably so poorly rendered as to be comical, an the already sketchy premise was malformed into a completely un-watchable, so bad it is sad, melange of just about everything one can do wrong with a big budget motion picture.

This is compounded by the fact the fellow that wrote the enjoyable book also wrote the abortion of a script.

I feel that "Ishtar" is actually a better film than ALVH.

Truth is though, it is still a better love story than Twilight.

A real shame though, the book is fun in ways only a movie-monster geek can understand.
