I feel exactly the same way. I pay for something, I want it in a timely fashion.Over the weekend had a reply. No surprise as to it being another excuse. I’m not interested in excuses or family hardships, we all have them and we all suffer from something unfortunately. I have my own business and somehow manage to take care of my customers despite all of the hospital visits and kid stuff on my end on top of everything else. Sorry dude, I have run out of empathy at this point.

Since I've been in the restaurant business in another life (servers/cashier/cook/dishwasher), as a rule, you don't wait 45 minutes to warn your client of short staffed problem (as you said, it's not your job to care about that). It's kind of like going out to eat. So I'm waiting 45 minutes for my order and the waitstaff comes over and apologizes that it's taking so long, but they are really short handed. How is this MY problem exactly? I still have to pay full price for my meal because your establishment was having issues? I don't care. I've actually been in this situation on more than one occasion. On those instances I handled it exactly the same way. I paid in cash exactly half of the bill and no tip. Then I leave a note with my first and last name and I write "Please call me if you have any questions or concerns with the amount I paid", then me and my family walk out.
To this day I have yet to receive any calls.
