What do you use for Storm Trooper headset mic?

The microphone headset that came with my Radio Shack voice amp gave out, last year. I bought a computer headset, from Office depot, and the feedback was a nightmare. What alternatives do I have before Halloween? I only need the mic headset, and not the whole set-up.

I use a small mic from Radio Shack that you clip (normally) to your lapel or tie. I just velcro it inside the front of my helmet -- it doesn't touch my head -- and it works great. It uses a small watch typ batter and plugs into my RS amp, also inside the helmet.

Radioshack headset mic, though I think they may have discontinued them in the last few years, they're getting hard to find. Of course Ratshack doesn't update their stock that often so they may still be avaliable. :rolleyes

That must be one heavy helmet. Is it an armor FX helmet? Mine's isn't that big, and the voice amp I have is much bigger than the speakers everyone carries.

I used to have a small mic that I just mounted inside my lid. I did have an FX helmet, so yes.. my helmet was very heavy. Amp, static bust n all was in there. Ran out of computer speakers through the areators. Was nice to be all contained inside.. but was a tank.

For my biker, I actually had the amp in a front chest pocket of jumpsuit. The armor covered it, but I could crank it up. I had a long cord that ran up inside the jumpsuit, under a neck protector and I just actually found the best way was to just tape (with that medical style bandaid kinda clear stuff) right to my chin with the small mic facing upward just under my bottom lip. Sounded great. Looked like I had some sort of weird goatee when I took my helmet off, but hey.. keep your lid on. :lol

Yes, it's FX. I have a giant head so I need it. But it's not really heavy. I stripped the voice amp so it's just the board and battery. I don't use the speaker or case. There are two small speakers in the aerators.

I also have two squirrel cage fans with thee 9-volts that velcro in the back to blow air around the sides to the front. Works really nice, too.

For me, I have a radioshack headset (which they still carry at all the radioshacks here) that runs down my under armor to the amp which is in my ab plate. No static burst effects or anything fancy like that. I have a Hyperdyne board packed away that I never use because I was never able to get it to make the burst sound at the right time and feedback with it was horrendous. :lol

Yeah, that's how I have mine's rigged. I only need to replace the headset.

I'm just looking for a decent headset, like the one pictured, so i can wear it when trooping and for other costumes. I can really use the advantage of it hooking up on my head and not to anything else.

Ditto

i used to do the im a rock star look with the boom mic but i really like it more now that it is mounted in the helmet with model train speakers in the aerators.
