What are your "holy grail" collection pieces?

I mean "holy grail" as in "One day will own this lifetime, realistically", not "Boy this Indy Magnoli grail is awesome!" ;)

Everyone, no matter how huge or small a collector, or how wealthy or poor they may be, has a "holy grail" that just... is why they got into the hobby or is something they discovered while in the hobby that they just HAVE to own.

realistic and will own SOMEDAY:
Superman 1/2 accurate crystal replica
Infinity Gauntlet (5 years in the making!)
Superman Reeve style costume (a good one)
Brisco County Jr Orb rod (replica)
Captain America shield (replica, duh)

"If I hit the lottery, I will own someday!" holy grails :
Actual Kryptonite necklace from Superman: The Movie
One of the screen used costumes from same
Various guns from DOOM (the movie)
Set of MRI/Xrays from Xmen/Xmen2 of Wolverine's skeleton and other mutants from Weapon X lab.
Some cool piece from Smallville, like a ship key or a meteor rock (actual screen used)

Kind of a short list, but it tends to get altered over time. I am about to knock off 2 from my "realistic" list, so I have to add something there later on!

What's your list?

My list is rather short, and I'm not really sure these items qualify as they're simply out of my financial range, not items that are difficult to obtain as most true "grail" items are. However, they are:

1. Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber hilt, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Properly weathered, of course.

2. Luke Skywalker lightsaber hilt, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The "V2" or "stunt" version that is. Weathered or pristine, wouldn't really matter.

Edit 04/26/07: Well, one down...sort of. I just won a replica Obi-Wan ANH hilt on Evilbay; it isn't weathered, but it can be. :love Probably not 100% accurate either, but it's close enough for me. For now, anyway. BTW, anybody know where I can get two sets of replica transistors for the "control knobs"?

I have several versions of the TOS phaser, however, they are all missing something in some way. My dream is to have a hero phaser with all the bells and whistles, rising site, extending emitter, removable handle.

ultra-accurate Lifesized ANH Vader
ultra-accurate Lifesized ANH trooper
ultra-accurate Lifesized ANH See-Threepio
ultra-accurate Lifesized Robby the Robot
ultra-accurate Cyclops (7th Voyage of Sinbad) figure

I'm roughly halfway there on most of these guys. Some more, some less. Anything else in my collection (aside from my Disney collectibles) is supplimentary. ;)

...oh, forgot to mention a fully functional recreation of Walt Disney's 1/8 scale Lilly Belle engine and tender.

Well, I already have my grail pieces just need to finish them off...
I have a delorean with about 80% of the BTTF conversion parts all sitting packed away in boxes. Have not bolted anything on yet, because the car needs about $3000 in mechanical work to be perfect, and I can't see converting it then taking to a mechanic.
I also have the "faceplate" of a Han in carbonite and side panels just need to build the rest.

I have 2 at the moment.
The 72' Nova from Death Proof and the Mustang from Bullitt.
Right now, I'm working on getting the Nova. :love

Farscape's John Crighton Hero Pulse Pistol Season 1 Holster.
I had the holster in my sniping program when it was on the bay a while back, but had a snafu with the passwords and totally lost the auction. It was in my grasp, but probably will never see it again.

I actually just got my last one a couple of weeks ago. A working, backup STV Tricorder from the set. :D

I think for me, a remote controlled 1:1 scale R2. Something I've been wanting for some time. Another is, a C96 Broomhandle Mauser converted to a real shooting Solo blaster.

A studio scale TOS Enterprise would be cool, but thats not a prop. A TOS Kirk uniform, but thats a uniform. A TOS command chair, but thats a set piece.

My grail when I joined here was actually a metal WOK communicator...but I got that.
Screen used Trek stuff would be cool.

If money was no object I'd love a Robby.

Of course...the real answer is...
the next neat thing that I see that I just "HAVE" to have.

Fully functional Mark IX/X tricorder. By "functional" I mean "blinkies" and not "scan for alien lifeforms".. hehe. I know these are out there, it's just a matter of finding them in combination with having the available funds.

Conan Atlantean sword from Albion Armorers. This one above all others, it's my single most desired prop.

I suppose I already have my "Holy Grail" prop, replica at least: the ANH Graflex Lightsaber. It's the reason I got hooked into this looney world of prop collecting lol. Runner-up: Darth Vader's helmet from ANH (or "Star Wars" as we called it back in the day), this one's a toughie and almost falls into the lotto category--there are numerous replicas/castings out there all with their strengths and weaknesses but no one of them is 100% dead-on and that's the one I want (our friend Darthjones helmet notwithstanding, his is a one-off and not likely to hit the market any time soon). 3rd place is Han Solo's hero blaster, again, from ANH: I've got the MR EE and a real Mauser now I need the rest of the parts!

As far as the "if I ever won the lottery it would be mine category" goes I'd like to own an authentic piece of screen-used Star Wars property and I don't particularly care what it would be. A chunk of the Death Star or an exploded X-Wing model would be cool, a piece of a set, costume, prop, I don't care. Like a lot of us that movie was a watershed moment in my life and I'd like to hold a bit of it in my hand.

My holy grail piece?

It would have to be my lifesize ESB Vader hands down.

Not yet complete and over 3 years in the making but by the end of the year I hope to justify all of the dedication, research, time and money :wacko

Holy Grail wish list

1) Screen used costume "Hero"ESB Vader

2) Screen used costume "Hero" ANH Vader

3) Millennium Falcon, ANH Lifesize scale

I could go for a working BR blaster a-la Kovatch / Steinschneider. Real firing Bulldog, real Steyr receiver (or is that cast / modified receiver now?), actual jewler's tool, etc.

Alternatively, I'd be just as happy w/ a fully accurate 3P0 to go with my R2.

Someday...

My Holy Grail is getting the screen-used Galaxy Quest "HERO" Thermian Nebulizer prop used by Tim Allen in the movie.

Through some hard work I tracked that down and got it, as well as some other stuff.

I felt like I won the lottery with that one.

Mine would be to have a Han ROTJ blaster converted from an MGC with all the accurate parts.

Until then, I have the next best thing. ;)

If I hit the lottery, I'd be on my way to The Ranch to find the MoM version. I'm sure George and I could work something out. :lol

ROTJ Vader Reveal. Been working on it for about four years and I got it to about 75% complete.

Soon I will start on my new imporved one which I aim to have complete both outside and inside. Look for it in about four years LOL!

The other thing I'd really like one day is an accurate R2D2. This will be the last of the lifesizes I will add to my collection - don't have room for more!

I'm with DCARTY, the Luke ANH Graflex was the prop which brought me to the RPF over 5 years ago and it is still holds the strongest connection for me to the Galaxy far far away.
