What are some of the best lightsaber reference sites?

I am looking for input on what are some of the best sites on the net to learn the history / quality / workmanship of fan made lightsabers?

For example, www.starwarshelmets.com is a great reference site for fan made and licensed Star Wars replica helmets, I am looking for a site or sites that would be the equivalent of that only for lightsabers.

I'm not sure one really exists. Luuke's site does a nice job breaking down all the fictional pieces of the hilts. But I'm not sure one that details all the makers has been pulled together. If one has, I'd love to see it.

Any more? I'm not necessarily looking for somethign as comprehensive as starwarshelmets.com but a mixture of sites would be nice. Im trying to educate myself on the different types of fan made lightsabers and looking for some places to learn.

Roger that. You can't go wrong with The Parts of Star Wars site. :thumbsup

PS: Hey lonepigeon - How about some updates to the site. With all the new discoveries on the OWK ANH saber, there's plenty that needs documented. Your site alone got me into this mess... I mean hobby. Thanks Chris.

Dang, you guys beat me to it. Yeah - Lonepigeon's PoSW site is amazing. Zero BS, all facts. Dead simple to navigate and learn from too. Go there.

Just checked it out, very nice.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

I know, I know... we need to update BAD. There was/is a site software/design upgrade planned to make updates easier so we'd quit putting them off. Justin of worldfamouscomics.com was nice enough to set that up for us (as well as hosting the site for us)- hopefully we can implement the upgrade soon.
There's another related project in the works as well. :)

What nobody gets here is that Darth Kahnt is looking for information about different replicas and their relative quality. :)

I don't know of a site which documents those. You'd probably want to start a thread and hope people contribute what they know.

JD pilot used to have picks of her fan made sabers, right? Check thesabervault.com for the link. I think she might have info on the different makers as well. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

BINGO. :D

Chris,

The first place I'd go would be the RPF :lol , but you do have to weed through all the different threads to find information. But as for a single website that has a lot of good info on the ANH OWK saber, both history and fan made hilts, I'd recommend Roman's site : Roman's Empire .

Hey, don't say nobody... I knew what DK was looking for. I even said that a site like that didn't exist. :)

True, you did say that. :)

This thread is making me think that it may be a good idea for a bunch of us to get together and create such a site, just like starwarshelmets.com except for lightsabers. This could be a great RPF group project. If we all chipped in a few bucks per year we could easily pay for the domain name and hosting.

Thoughts?

RMS--my apologies, and a tip o' the hat to you. :angel

DK--I'd certainly be happy to contribute material. My review of the MR Obi is here in another thread, so long as it's credited and I'm informed, anyone's welcome to use it. :)

You can always browse some of my sabers. Some custome made, some MR, a few I made, and a few from 'runs'. Just click the signature.

Im thinking a site with pics of sabers and breaking it down into the components used to create all the different ones and some history (where applicable) behind the sabers and their evolution. I am thinking the site owuld mainly be for made made sabers and comparriosons to screen used ones but we could also include licenced replicas in their own section.
