I am building a Mark X tricorder. I am at the stage where I am installing my electronics. What adhesive do you suggest I use; hot glue, 5 minute (or other) epoxy, putty/bondo?

I have always used hot glue from a glue gun and it has worked fine for me.

I was concerned that it would meess with the plastic tricorder body, or the paint job on the outside of the plastic.

I would recommend using the low temperature hot glue. I've used it on several resin kits, and it hasn't been a problem with respect to damaging the body.

I am curious as to whether anyone has used this technique on the vacu-formed bodies, particularly the Rodd.com kits. The bodies seem much thinner than a typical resin kit. I just want to be sure I'm not going to melt or deform the kit using the hot glue.

I used low melt hot glue before and apart from burnt fingers (don't ask) its quite alright. But its not good for plastics even if you plan to pour cold water immediately to cool it down.

Oh, and don't use it on magnets too.........:lol
