What actor is the best cast as the superhero character they play?

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet. Patrick Warburton was BORN to be The Tick. I really can't think of anyone better for that role.

Mark Ruffalo is the best Banner, so far. He tries to deal with 'the other guy' like a real person.
And this Hulk is the best Hulk. Great casting.
We didn't see nearly enough of Ruffalo to make a judgment, IMO.

Yes, there was great writing involving the way the Banner/Hulk was portrayed. But great writing does not equal great casting... frankly, Ruffalo does not share the physical attributes of the comic Banner.

So far all of the Marvel Movie Universe films have had above average casting. Yeah, there may've been someone that maybe fell a bit flat (I'm looking at you Natalie Portman - but, her character wasn't particular well written, either), but overall their batting average is very high.

All the Punisher movies were so stupid it's hard to judge the actors performance.

Ray Stevenson and Wayne Knight did good jobs with what they had.

The following actors OWN their particular Superhero role:
Adam West - Batman
Burt Ward - Robin
Van Williams - Green Hornet
Bruce Lee - Kato
Christopher Reeve - Superman
Robert Downey Jr. - Iron Man
Every actor who played a superhero on The Watchmen (except for the dude who played Adrian Veidt)

Michael Keaton as Batman
Jack Nicholson as joker
robert downey jr. as Iron man
Andrew Garfield as spider man.

You meant George Reeves.

RDJ's Tony Stark is a completely different character from his role in the comics, which is, In my opinion, a good thing.

But yeah, RDJ. Reeves too.

Also, Andrew Garfield as Spidey. I think he did an excellent job.

I think Andrew Garfield did an incredible job as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He added a lot of depth to the character and he just really hit the mark. Really felt like the Parker from the new Ultimate Spider-Man comic series. Sorry Toby, but you've been beat!

I was talking about this with my wife the other day. Some actors just define the superhero, and not matter who comes before or after, that will always be the case.

Christopher Reeve, for me, will forever be the definitive Superman, Adam West - despite the greatness of Bale's portrayal, will always be Bat-Man, and now we have the perfect Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Andrew Garfield.

What about the villains and co-starring characters though?

I thought Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum made a pretty impressive Lex Luthor, maybe more so than Gene Hackman.

Cesar Romero will always be the Joker to me. And for supporting characters you won't find a better J.Jonah Jameson than JK Simmons.

I'm still hoping to see the perfect Mary Jane Watson - Dunst didn't capture this, in my opinion.

Christian Bale as Batman. He does it flawlessly.
Also, I liked Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. He just sort of fit the part. As did Toby MacGuire, but Andrew Garfield brought the nerdy Peter Parker back to life.

I don't think we have had enough Patrick Stewart votes. If he wasn't meant to be Professor Charles Xavier, I don't know who was.
