Wetsuit-Stillsuit glue question

So what do you all use to glue Neoprene on Lycra? Im toying with a Halloween 2009 idea but want to get the basics covered first. Im sure there is a commercial version available. I would like something that cures fairly quickly and comes in something other than a toothpaste size tube. I would use a glue gun but it doesnt have very good flexing qualities. Appreciate the feed back.

Oh and I could use some good pics of the foot area and worm prybar thing.

that's what I would do. I have been thinking about doing a stillsuit for several years, and I know the originals were glued, but you'll get more mileage out of the costume if you sew it.

I was thinking of doing it like the clonetrooper undersuits. But I have not started so - who knows if that method would have worked.

If I was going to use glue - I'd try Barge contact cement.

let me know when you start this Cris ive wanted to do a Still suit for a while

Sewing is out of the question because I dont know how to operate a sewing machine and I dont want the seams visible. I made a Borg way back in the day using a glue gun and it held up well. Basic idea is 1mm dive skin with a 3mm neoprene suit cut up for the 'muscles'. Surgical tubing and covered by a few layers of Black Plastidip. I remember reading about a wetsuit glue that is 2 part with the second part being a kicker like CA glue. Its not a brain surgery project but a good flexible glue would make it a breeze. Just in the planning stages something to work on when I get back to the states. Anyone have good pics for the feet? i already have the construction pics that are easily googled.

The legs ended in stirupps, Duneinfo has pictures of Jessicas shoes, which I assume were of the same design as the others. They look like some sort of dive shoe/sock with a strap and buckle added.

When I had my stillsuit made, I had it sewn, but that was the most easy/cost effective way for me at the time. Since then, some of the thread has come undone, so I can understand your decision to use glue.

Thanks Dropship. I didnt explore the full site. I think I will go with a Motorcycle MX boot and build the calf around that. I like the idea of a more sturdy footing. What size surgical tubing did you use?

I recommend sewing or using Barge Cement which is a lot like rubber cement on crack. It's designed to glue shoe soles to the rest of a shoe, so it's strong, flexible and long lasting. It does have a seriously strong vapor and you will have to work in a well ventilated space with a ventilator on. A lot of studios that build soft foam body suits use Barge cement to hold them together.
