These things are too cool. I'm completely geeking out over 'em.
I'm terrified as to what the price is gonna be on these though. :cry

Just thought I'd share some of the high-res pics Weta posted of these beauties...

Here are the High-res pics:

Holy crap. Those are gorgeous.
I hadn't seen the hi-rez pics before. . . man they put a lot of detail into these things.

They are nifty looking I'll give them that. I am slightly disappointed however, that the first one is merely a copy of a "Hubley Atomic Disintegrator with a different handle and some more stuff glued on it. I appreciate the nod to a true classic, but still, makes me wonder what they're looking at for inspiration. Don't they have more original ideas?

Anyone know a price point?
[/b]

They haven't announced yet when they're gonna be available or the prices...but I'm afraid of that number.
I must have at least one or two extra organs I don't need right? :rolleyes

A wee bit busy for my tastes but still way, way cool. I like the weathering of both the guns and the cases.

I am just in awe of that FMOM... I hope it's somewhere in a price range I can handle. I hope they're metal as well, it just wouldn't have the same effect if it were plastic or resin.

As there are no licensing fees, one would hope that the price point will be very attracive. The display value alone makes these worth considering.

Saw these at Comic Con. Magnificent. I understand they will have "working" triggers and controls too. :D

These guns really capture the aesthetic of early 20th century ray gun design... here are a couple of mine to prove my point. :)

That's both good AND bad news to me. Good in that it's cool, but effects are gonna make them all the more pricey. :unsure

I love the additional "tools" or "parts" that seem to be included in the cases too. Weta has really taken all the extra steps to make these as "authentic" looking as possible.

EDIT: Hey Phase Pistol...what material are the glossy red grips on that Atomic Disintegrator?

It's great to see items with no linik to any movie, and made with such attention to detail.
I'd love to get me a "Man Melter". I'll be watching for the price on these.

The metal is iron and the grips are some kind of plastic. I dunno if it's "bakelite" or something else. Some kind of hard plastic.

The grips have a tendency to warp and spread out on these guns, and mine is no exception. Not too bad on mine tho.

That was my only complaint.. just maybe a little too much going on, what with the vials of liquid and little tubes and whatnot. Too fiddly looking, amost Victorian.

Which IMHO is wrong... I don't want Captain Nemo's ray gun necessarily... :lol

I think it is awesome that they are making these "just for fun."
Seems like in the past decade (or more.) painfully little has been done, toy-wise that isn't tied to a movie, an animated series, television show, etc. Heck "kid's shows" have been created for the express purpose of selling toys for a long time.
Certainly, nothing like this.
I would bet, though, that the prices are going to reflect the kind of money MR gets for their stuff. I hope I am wrong, they are very nice to look at. The attention to detail on the cases is fantastic.
So next, someone will make a movie based around these props.
Life imitates art imitates life, etc.

I talked to the artist/designer at Comic con. He designed them for a graphic novel he's doing, can remember the title, it was long and cumbersome. He said the prices were going to be around 1G, :eek . But they are all metal and have working dials and switches.
I really like the idea that the look like something you would find in grandpas attic, if grandpa kept company with Doc Savage and John Carter.
