Wested Raiders Jacket Sleeves

I just visited Wested's site for the first time in a while (haven't needed to since I've had my jacket for years).

Their more accurate ROTLA jacket - which features most or all the mods noted in Agent5's outstanding write-up - mentions the sleeves are more tapered than their standard version.

I've not previoulsy heard this about hte sleeves, but in considering, it makes sense. The sleeve cuffs on mine are pretty big.

What more do we know on this?

Anything...?

Just curious if anyone has a general idea of how much more narrow the cuffs are on the screen-used version than on Wested's "Standard".

A tailor may be able to do it? A friend of mine too a leather jacket he had that the arms were way too big for him but the body fit just right and had the tailor fit them to him

Thank ya very much! I'm here all week and don't forget to tip your Server!

:lol Man I can't believe no one has the skinny on this!

I'm surprised Agent 5 has not posted here yet.

"Agent 5! Calling Agent 5!!" ;)

And the verbiage:

Special Offer Raiders ROLA Authentic Lambskin

This special offer comes in soft 'Authentic' brown lambskin

This authentic copy from 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' specifications include two-way pockets, action pleats for arm movement, side vents,

Unlike the Standard raiders which has slight modification to make it durable and street wearable this 'film jacket' although equally wearable is more lightweight.

There are no inside leather facings, the body is slimmer and the sleeves more tapered. The zip is a smaller 5 gauge nickel and the action pleat depth is narrower with two piped inside pockets.

Each jacket is certified as an authentic replica of the Original Film Version and is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity

I don't think I understand the question. Are you asking if tapered sleeves are more SA or what the purpose is? Even before reading Chris King's specs or Agent5's specs, tapered sleeves was the number one mod I'd request. I'd even go beyond just requesting "tapered sleeves" and specify, "heavily tapered sleeves". The standard cut of a Wested has the sleeves setup as a barrel cuff with the same proportions as the armhole, which is way too big imo.

Peter sells that jacket on eBay (along with a non-modded jacket) for a little less in price.

Here's one of my favorite Planet Hollywood shots, and the placard image shows the sleeve cuff fairly well...

Geez, I love that Planet Hollywood puts stuff on display that isn't even accurate, let alone authentic! Look at the knit cuffs and waistband on what's clearly a bomber jacket!:lol

I looked around for ages and couldn't find that info about the cuffs on any of the Wested Indy jacket sites. Where did you see that?

I bought my Wested 2nd-hand, so I don't even know if it was a custom or off-the-rack, or how old it is. Is there a way to know just by looking at them? It's pretty short-waisted, so I assume it's what I've seen referred to as an 80's cut.

The cuffs on my size 42 are about 12.5" around.

That probably doesn't help you in the least...:(
