Can I get Plastruct cement at hardware stores, or do craft stors sell them also? Or would I be better off getting if from a hard core model/hobby shop?

Either mail order from Plastruct directly or possibly a hobby store that carries Plastruct will carry it.

Personally, I prefer instant glue and zip kickers for styrene work. Cement takes too long. In a pinch, you can use any volitile solvent for cement. Be sure to use PLENTY of ventilation.

ditto, instant glue works great.

What he said. I've even used PVC pipe cement in a pinch but forget using it on thin sheet stock as it will easily distort it.

If you have a plastics supply nearby, see if they have IPS Weld-on 3. It's a water thin, fast curing glue for plexi, but it works great on just about any plastic including styrene. You can get a quart for about $12 and that should last the average modeler a long time.

The only problem with superglues, is over time they can become brittle and break apart. A combination works great too. Use a little CA on each corner for a quick set and then use the Weld-on along the rest of the seam for a strong, chemical bond.

The plastic place will usually carry applicators too.

I second the IPS recommendation...Great stuff. It WELDS the two pieces together in 30 seconds or so.

If you can't find that, regular lacquer thinner from any hardware store works the same way (just not as fast) but really cheap. And you have plenty left over to clean brushes.
