Gotta love Christoph Waltz. He really left you feeling creepy in Basterds.

Yeah, I'm glad Waltz got the nomination.

Not sure about QT, though.

Well, looks like I can go to bed now.

Ditto. And how can there be 10 best pic noms but only 5 for director. Did the other 5 films make themselves? Stupid.

District 9 and Inglorious Basterds? While I like both movies, I don't think either is best movie material.

I guess they needed something to fill 10 nominations.

well my picks.

but you just know morgan freeman is going to get it as the politically correct vote.

Best Director:
Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker

I think this is fair. cameron's is technically good and has a lot of work to get all th at stuff on screen, he's had the vision to makei t happen, but I think Bigelow delivers a good film that pulls no punches and is timely in its message and themes.

Best Motion Picture:
District 9

I haven't seen Inglorious Basterds but District 9 definitely is not deserving of a best picture nomination. It was decent and maybe even good, but not best picture material. I think they just have way too many nominations for best picture.

Agreed. District 9 was mediocre beyond belief. It looked great and started off smart, but decayed into an average actioner half way through. Disappointing.

Either way, all deserve applause. Its a huge honor for all those nominated and tho we may dispute some, today, they are feeling on top of the world.

***CONGRATS FOR THE OSCAR NOMINEES OF 2010***

10 movies for best picture?

Has that always been the case or is that something new this year?

Did you see Up! was nominated for Best picture and Best Animated Picture?

And you know how predictable the Academy is....

Up! will win hands down on the Animated side because it got nominated for Best Picture.

It will not win Best Picture because that was just a nod in order for the shoe in for Best Animated.

The Oscars have gotten so predictable.

Just like what they did for LOTR. They waited until all three were done and made the Oscars following Return of the King the "LOTR Awards Show".

I would have hated to be nominated for anything that year. You were screwed because you knew they were going to give it to LOTR for the body of work.

I always thought that was messed up.
