website of model kit parts?

Does anyone know of any website that contains photos of model kits parts? Something to help identify parts that have been used on props?

Thanks for the input, I've thought that it may be a few pieces glued together, but not quite sure. Anyone else?

The top rectangular piece look like the wicker ammo baskets from the Tamiya 88mm Flak 36/37. Looks like they have been glued to some other piece - probably just a block of wood/plastic/plex.

The tubes? Don't know, don't usually care as that stuff can be remade fairly easily using raw stock.

Not sure, does look like an assemblage -

I used to work at ILM, I was responsible for ordering the model kits used to kitbash, so I've seen my share of parts -

Maybe some more angles and a ruler or something for size reference ?

iceman, I saw your note in your sig about PMs; it was a glitch that affected some users...I turned 'em back on for you.

(Sorry for the confusion - it's not the board,
The filtering software here does not allow me to access the PM function, as well as some other board options - none which I really need anyway,so no worries, I just didn't want people to leave a PM thinking I would get it)

As for the part in question - the bottom block may have been scratch built, but it has a curved bottom as it it were meant to mount on curved surface, but too hard to tell from the image.

Well, your PM access WAS turned off, so it might not've been the filter. Give it a try! ;)

That looks close, but i don't think it's an exact match. the ones from the kit look like a flat edge, where the kitbashed ones look rounded and the gridding doesn't appear on the edges. Maybe they covered them over for the piece?

I agree that the base is the Flak 88 shell canister. The link listed above is to a retooled version of the Tamiya kit; the canisters for the retool are different. As to the curved tubes attached, it could be one of three options: an EMA/Plastruct shape, a piece of sprue or perhaps a piece from a F1 race car kit (Tamiya, Hasegawa or other). That part of the assembly should be easy to duplicate.

Didn't know until I saw the link that the Tamiya Flak 88 has been retooled; must stock up on the old version !

any pictures of the untouched 'old' version of this piece? and what's the box cover look like?
