Guys,

Im on the lookout for some weathering pastels/chalks. I know its best to use Oil Free but can anyone point me in the direction of a set? Im in the UK and haven't been able to find some as of yet?

Cheers

Not sure about the UK, but any art supply store should have them. Also if you have a department store with an arts/crafts section they should have them too.

Faber Castell chalk pastels would be my suggestion. They don't have a tendency to darken when clear coated.

I use the ones below. Dirt cheap. I scrape the sticks with a x-acto knife and mix the powders to create the color I want. Then in a palette cup I add some water along with a drop or two of dish soap to break the surface tension of the water so the powders will mix. I dip a brush in the mixture and put some strokes on a piece of paper. When it has the consistency of coffee I apply it to my model.

Hope this helps.

As you're in the UK try Hobbycraft.
Their own brand are only £2.50 for 12 assorted colours or £2 for 12 black/grey tones.
