Weathering Kylo hilt help

I have never weathered a prop. I have a Parks Kylo hilt. I usually like clean props, but it just doesn’t look right clean.

I got the paint to paint on the heat stain on the quillions. Just not sure of how to do the rest. Did some searching and didn’t really find a answer I liked.

This is a korbanth I did years ago. I stripped a lot of the black in areas. Costed it with copper, then reapplied a black, then used a testors black and dabbed it with a cloth in areas to texture that.

It’s just a lot of layers

I machined the inside to except some 3d printed parts

How did you strip it in spots? Scotch paid? Steel wool? Or just really aggressive and use sand paper?

Can you explaining coating parts with copper? I’ve read that before and don’t understand unless it’s just paint?

Thanks.

I believe I use acetone... rubbed it in areas I wanted to paint copper, rubbed it in some spots I need it to show aluminum

Then burned a few areas of black that I wanted to remain black, other parts of the saber I used the black spotching technique with a paper towel
