Weathering Clothes with Weathering Powders

I had the idea to make a cosplay shirt look dirt using weathering powders, but does anyone have any tips for how to make the powder stay in the fabric through washing?

Pretty sure the industry uses Fuller's Earth (you probably have heard that too); just nt sure how permanent it would be.

Coffee or tea staining, perhaps?
