Hello! Sorry to pester but In need of help with waterslide decals. Im putting together an ecto 1 kit and want to replace the stickers that came with it for decals of the "no-ghost" logo.

Could anyone here make those for me? They need to be a higher quailty as possible. Will pay of course.

Many thanks :)

If you have a home printer why not try making your own? White decal paper is available from sources such as Micro-mark. Trust me that you will find other uses for it especially if you are into props. Just print your image, let dry and then spray with a protective clear coat. Once the clear coat is dry, cut out your image and place it in water then slide it off like any other decal.

Check out this thread for a great decal PDF for the Ecto graciously posted by Talisen.

I thought you could not print white on standard printers :confused

You can't print white, but you can get white decal paper. Essentially it gives your entire decal a solid white background, so you would have to cut around it very carefully if you wanted to use it for that ghostbusters logo.

White is a moot point anyway as Ecto 1 is painted white. Hence no need to print white in them.

The Cult decals are good quality and should work just fine.

The pdf is an amazing free set... been planning on using those myself.

Building the Polar Lights kit, or customizing a 1A from AMT?

Right now im building the polar lights kit for a client but a ertl 1A kit just arrived with my next workload so that PDF decal set will come in really handy!!

Thanks again for all the help! (SingleSeat, PM sent your way).

Thanks from me as well.

I have read that the 59 monogram kit front end is compatible with the AMT and is an quick upgrade. The lights are separate clear parts, unlike both of the Ecto offerings.

A shame Polar Lights made that back window nearly opaque black, its a really great kit... and if you're wondering the windows are not compatible. The Ecto 1A clear back window will be too small for the 1.

Who knows if I'll ever get around to doing up one of mine but it couldn't help to drop more upgrade information in here. I know there are more accurate wheels to be sourced, but which caddy?

I’m glad that the link was useful. I thought that I would post some comparison pics in hopes that they may help in some way.

First are the etched parts on the hood of the Polar Ecto.

Next are the bumpers. Monogram on the bottom, Polar in the middle and the old AMT on top.

As increiPAUL said the Monogram bumpers come with separate clear pieces for the head lights and park lamps.

Here the Monogram is on the old AMT.

On the Polar.

The three different dashes. Again Monogram on the bottom, Polar middle and AMT top.

And last is a pic of the rims. Polar’s are on top and Monogram on the bottom.

If the parts all look somewhat filthy its because the have been setting in a box in my shed for a long while. If anyone needs any other comparison pics let me know.

Wow.

I'd say that about covers the differences. That's what i love about this place, if you've even just thought-up a project there's someone else here who has all the parts in a box somewhere.

Can't tell you how much that just helped my eventual build... thanks John!

Some more information...

The actual Ecto 1 uses the stock hubcaps. The polar version looks correct but there are 2 releases of the Monogram. I am uncertain what exactly the Cadillac hubcaps should be for the Ecto 1. I'm guessing PL got it right, and the monogram hubcaps above are a different version altogether.

The 1A uses steel wheels with half moon caps. According to the link above the best choice is the Pro Modeler 58 Corvette from Monogram with matching openings in the steel wheels, and separate caps. Accurate tires; BF Goodwrench T/A tires from any MPC/AMT kit with the raised letters painted white.

wow I have had an alps and was going to mention it too but some one beat me to it. however i would like to mention that the ecto 1 seems to be a bit off white and the logo more white like the car was dirty and the logo brand new (this is memory so I now have a reason to go re-watch the first one to see if it is correct)
anyway the alps printing white on clear water slide would give this effect. I do not know for certain but I would look if you are planning on buying one. as not all printers do all the same work. the MD5000 though does it all and has a higher resolution than most printers out there (real 2400 dpi in BOTH directions) and prints in metallic colors as well as gold and silver foil (like a mirror) just be aware that getting every thing to work might be a bit trying and a vector program is essential when using these strange materials like foil white and metallics as it uses one color slot for each so even a slight color difference will just end up with plain cyan magenta or yellow instead of the metal or white you wanted. never use any sort of lossy file for it.
