His guns are fed with ammo stored in his hopes and dreams.

I'm sure there's some space. Didn't you see the shot of him landing at the military base with the suit he took from Tony? He landed and opened the visor and walking towards those guys looked to be at about 7' tall. The suit adds a few inches to your height, not 2 feet....So somehwere in there is where it's stored.

Some guy made his own suit of War Machine armor, and actually had a belt feeding the gatling gun. A big exposed belt with bad angles taht would almost certainly cause it to jam or misfire or something.

I'm gonna go with "The ammunition is actually extremely small and fed internally. But thanks to Stark's technology, even a small round accelerated at the speeds taht the gatling gun can fire it can cause massive damage."

That or it's just a movie.
