Warhammer 40k terminator

was this airbrushed?
This was all brush painted. I scrubbed in a coat of black on all the metallic parts and the angel. The gold on the wings and all the inner wings were painted solid color, the angel was dry brushed on all the high points and then washed with a burnt umber. The hands were dry brushed with copper. It gives it a bronze tone that I actually liked better than what I was shooting for

Brother Lucien got a manicure today.

I finished up some display stands today at work and got them painted. Seeing these lightning claws in their proper position really hits home as to how big this suit is. All I can say is it's redicculous! Still working on the shield atm also. The colors are blocked in and going to start the weathering. Ill have to make a stand for this 1 too. Stay tuned..

Got some more display stands done for the auto cannon

And a pic of the alternate forearm in action
IMG_20200714_204019422.jpg
This auto cannon has been waiting a long time to be mated to it's owners arm. I made this over a year and 8 months ago before I started building Lucien. It's been setting up on the fire place mantle for quite awhile. The look on people's faces is priceless! 1st question "is that real?" LOL. Almost finished with the rear of the shield, stay tuned ...

Finished the rear of the shield today, here's the results
IMG_20200719_140648931.jpgIMG_20200719_140659448.jpgIMG_20200719_140710360.jpgIMG_20200719_140719597.jpg
I need to make a display stand for this so it doesn't get crushed on the tip. I'll also make an extra rod for 1 of the existing bases so that it looks as if Lucien is holding it.
On a side note, I've already started on the 4ft round display base that he's going to be perched on.

Made some progress on the display base. This thing is 4' diameter on the top and 8" thick. Have the base structure done and have been scratch building goodies to fill the inside
IMG_20200721_180436194.jpgIMG_20200802_161945026.jpgIMG_20200802_161902900.jpgIMG_20200802_162024088.jpgIMG_20200802_161913264.jpgIMG_20200802_162004838.jpg
The top plate is screwed on so I can paint the inside before I close it up. Here's some of the guts
IMG_20200802_192704387.jpgIMG_20200802_192645707.jpg
I still need to make a few more details to cram inside and make some more stanchions for structural strength. I plan on lighting this from the inside with some orange Halloween lights. Still have to figure out what to clad the outside with. Luan will bend to a degree, but this is kinda tight for a curve. We'll see when I get there. Thanx for looking...

Base plate progress report. Got all the details for the inside done and the outer edge is clad.

Some of the more intricate stuff got a coat of paint and the surrounding area as well. Some parts I won't be able to reach once they're glued home. This was 1 of them
IMG_20200809_191243835.jpg
All these goodies will get dry brushed with metallics of some sort to pick out the details better. Probably some labels with flow arrows and markings for visual fodder. There will be enough in there to catch your eye and make you wonder what the hell is under there, lol. Here's some shots of it closed up and with the side skirting on

And the sides
IMG_20200811_201341957.jpgIMG_20200811_201351932.jpg
This thing is ready to paint. Still have to install the lighting on the underside of the deck, but that won't keep me from painting.
Thanx for watching and stay tuned for more...

Teaser pic. Got this painted today among other things
IMG_20200813_200946433.jpg

Turned out pretty good for my old ass, shaking hands. The whole deck will get grunge washed and oil smeared anyway, so it'll cover my bobbles. I'm thinking the lower layer of the decking is gonna be metallic and maybe a section of black/yellow safety stripes across part of a section. That should bring some color in. That way when I distress the crap out of it, the decking will show through. Stay tuned...

Time for an update. I wanted to put some mini spot lights on the sides of the base pointing up to light this armor from the bottom. 1 thing led to another and after a discussion with a buddy at work it turned into statues standing in cathedral arches with hanging lights and banners and flying buttresses and ohh my what the hell have I gotten into. Here's the derailment
IMG_20200817_200943293.jpg
The arches are made of Luan and the statue is 3d printed. There's 8 of these all the way around.
IMG_20200822_193024589.jpgIMG_20200907_171514551.jpg
The side arches get a 3d printed trim with a stained glass panel behind. All will be different
IMG_20200824_195558096.jpgIMG_20200824_195930043.jpg
Behind the statues is a banner either from the game or the miniatures. Kinda cartoony looking, but that's what they look like. Again, all are different
IMG_20200829_165302199.jpg here are all 8, finished
There was a gap in between the cathedrals that needed filling so I came up with these
IMG_20200901_194638666.jpgIMG_20200901_194310460.jpgIMG_20200905_200331336.jpg
These will go every other 1. And here are fresh cookies from the oven
IMG_20200907_151604136.jpg The cogs may get a little more detail yet
And finally, 1 mocked up
IMG_20200830_191038290.jpg
At the moment I'm working on detailing the main arch and finishing the rest of the stained glass panels. Still 3d printing the last of the arches and getting ready for wiring the lights. Thanx for watching and stay tuned...

This is lights off except for the base and his gear
IMG_20201229_201723839.jpg

The inside is a couple strings of dedicated blue LED Xmas lights and 1 string of RGB LED's

Some of the details closer up. The only thing that didn't work out was the small lamps above the statues head. I tried to splice into the LED light strings and they're finicky as hell . I must have knicked something or shorted somewhere, but half a string cooked and I ripped out the whole mess and moved on without them. Maybe later I'll revisit and try again.

Impressive. Most impressive.

Is there any chance that there are pep or any other kind of plans fort this build? It breathtaking. I'm starting my midlife crisis and this seems much better than buying a convertible.

Amazing work. Is there any chance that there are pep files or any other plans that you used. This seems like a much better plan than a convertible for my midlife crisis.

Check out Obscurus Crusade for files dude. At the very least, there are standard Space Marine files there.
Good luck!!!!
