Thought I would show off the pieces of armor I recently aquired, not much but a start and I'm working on the rest. :) It was production made but not screen used, backup.

HO. LY. CRAP.

That's all I can say. Absolutely gorgeous...can't wait to see what this all looks like when you're done with it.

i love how you can see that they use the exact same build methods as us standard guys, not some fancy secret technique :D just good old craftsmanship

As I said to you Clinton these couldn't be in better hands, this will be a great project to follow! :thumbsup

Thanks Nick, they are very nice pieces and really look forward to getting some of the rest of the armor. They are the perfect scale for my WarMachine helmet so no need to redo that piece. :cool

Not really they don't use the same materials as we would for sure. Plus you can tell these were 3D printed pieces to start with since I can still see print lines in parts.

Thanks Joe, it will be a long process I'm sure but well worth it in the end since it will be the only 100% accurate build out there that I am aware of. :)

I can only imagine in your hands whats you're going to make with these pieces. Best of luck. They look incredible.

Thanks guys, been searching for these for quite some time. They were verry hard to come by so the rest might be a bit but well worth it for the sheer accuracy of it all. :)

I knew they printed the gloves, but I didn't think they printed the armor too! Makes sense though, they certainly had the budget for it. :)

For Iron Man 2 they printed all the armor pieces not just golves. But very hard to find any War Machine pieces, it has taken a long time to find just these.

I don't know that I understand. That stuff looks like fiberglass to me, but you're saying the armor was printed? Was the master printed and then they made fiberglass molds?

Nice score too!

Wow this is awesome, Finhead what are you planning to do with these? as far as a costume or a display?

Printed and then fiberglass backed for reinforcement? That would be my guess

The it works is simple, same as any other prop.
It is 3D printed which would be nylon or ABS or whatever they choose to print in. Then it would be finished (mastered) as 3D printing leaves lines as the layers build. Then it would be molded and run as a cast. This is a castin out of the original movie molds. The reason I say they came from a 3D print is due to the fact there are still 3D print lines in the cast that were not taken out before molding (edges that don't show).

These pieces are actually a very high shore urethane rubber that is fiberglass cloth backed in the same rubber "not" resin. I would guess for tear resistance.

Hope that explains it a little better. :)
