Wanting to do my first cosplay but need advice.

Daredevil
Nightwing
Spider-Man
Green Lantern
Flash
Arrow.
Scarlet Spider-Man

I figured Spider-Man would be too complicated for my first try at this stuff. Which is a shame cause I have a very Spider-man-like figure. I don't want to wear just regular ole spandex though I want to movie-fy it or something. Like, if I were fighting crime I wouldn't just wear spandex. It would at least be a material a little less fragile. I don't have much experience with this though.

For Nightwing I would want something like this:


For Flash, something like this maybe?


I can't even find one of Daredevil that I like, I would want something more armory. Kind of like a red Batman costume but one piece and no cape.


Maybe something like this for Green Lantern? This is another one that was hard to find something I liked.



For Arrow, I would just go with the design from season 2 of the show:


I can't find a material for a regular Spider-Man costume so far that I would like, but for Scarlet Spider I think I could just get some red pants, a hoodie, red gloves, red shirt, a mask, and red shoes, plus the accessories, and call it a day. Only problem being trying to get all those reds to be the same red.



Also for reference, I'm 6'1 and 135 pounds, though I hope to be around 140 by the time I would actually get to wear it. I have brown hair and, in case the description didn't give it away, I'm really tall and thin, but a bit muscular now that I've been working out. I'm also open to any other characters. I love all things nerdy.

You could do a Spider-Man style from TASM series if you went online and ordered the theatrical style Spidey suit. It's detailed and would probably just need fitted a bit better and perhaps a better mask but if you're set on him, that might be your best choice. Or eBay.

Would not be as recognizable but Harry Dresden. He was tall and thin. The few pieces that distinguish him are easy to make or buy . This would be one of those costumes that not everyone would recognize, but the ones that get it would make it worth while.

Coincidentally, for your first cosplay, Spider-man (any version) might be a better idea precisely because he lacks armor. An armored look is tough for your first go if you have little to no experience crafting/molding armor pieces. Spidey typically does not wear armor because his agility is his "armor." He doesn't absorb or deflect attacks, he dodges them.

However, if you prefer the challenge and want to go the armor route, do not let me discourage you.

I suggest posting a general budget that you have, to help tailor the kind of suggestions you receive. You don't need to provide exact numbers if you do not want, just a general idea so that we don't tell you to run off and one piece of the costume that will eat up your entire budget.

do you sew? or have access to a friend/relative who sews. The reason i ask is a friend of mine (about 6'1" 145lbs) did a simple nightwing. bought a black wetsuit (ebay for cheap), bought some blue spandex/under armor type material, and had the nightwing symbol sewed into the chest. the mask was built off of a green lantern pep file that he added points to. the sticks were PVC, painted and LED's drilled into the end, and wired up on a battery and a button. Easy, effective, cheap, and a very good first build. really a very good build in general, not just for a first build, and pretty cheap.

I've been wanting to read the Dresden Files, so that's definitely an option. I'll pick up the first book in that series soon and if I take a liking to it I'll probably use him!

Oh, that's true. I hadn't thought of that. I would prefer to spend less than $350, which I know is low, but I'm 17 and I don't want to spend a ton on a costume that I might grow out of.

I can sew moderately well, and my grandma can sew very well. That sounds very cool! Do you happen to have any pictures?
