Walking Dead Sheriff Uniform

I have to say I haven't ever noticed them change his holster. This season is still the same holster as always... I could be wrong but it seems to be a constant with his costume. Here's a couple ref shots I have from S3.

Actually, the one with the knife quite clear shows that his holster has two straps, as opposed to the original from at least season one...

The holster has always had two snaps.... it is based on the old basket-weave holsters from the 40s by Earl Ginn. The classic vintage holsters always had two straps that met over the gun and snapped together with a button. I was like that in the first season and I still think it has never changed.

Your pictures show normal, one strap holsters... the strap goes over the weapon and snaps to the thumb break. That was the normal way holsters worked until the rotating hood style was invented back in the nineties, and it's still quite common. Especially since they don't cost a hundred and fifety bucks...

Rick uses that holster throughout most of the show... except for a few scenes where he's got an old two-strap one. The two-strap holsters have two dangly straps that snap together over the weapon, and when they're unsnapped, they both flop down to the sides... they were really tough to re-snap with only one hand, too.

With the kind in the pictures, the thumb snap part, which is against the body, is rigid (usually due to steel reinforcing) and doesn't flop around at all. You can re-snap it with one hand, something that countless cadets had to do many pushups over until they got it right...

Ok.. cool, fair enough. Always looks the same with two snappy straps as pictured rigid or not but... I shall not argue about it coz you seem to know ya stuff but of course I can only go by what I can see. I'm going to do my best to watch the dvds and try look out for it now! If you know when it changed or a scene or have a picture for me to look at then do let me know coz I just won't believe it! haha

heh...

I've been carrying a gun at work for a very long time now, and being what some refer to as a "gear geek", I know a whole lot more about gear and stuff than is likely healthy... *grin*

Thought i'd give a small update on my Rick Grimes costume progress. It's all slowly coming together! Let me know what you think.

Yeah I did but I'm really not too fussed at that... cost me pretty much 0 to get that one so it'lll do, better than some i've seen around and they paid a lot more than I did! ^_^

Just discovered this thread yesterday and it's taken me two days to go through the whole thing!!! I'm now ready to start my costume! Thanks for all of your help.

As detailed as ya'll have been, i've seen very little posted about the authentic boots and absolutely nothing about the wedding ring. I know that's being picky but I figured someone somewhere as had to look into this part of the Rick costume.

Hey gang-

Looking for the perfect Rick sidearm to add to my build. Naturally I'd love to get a real one just for going out to the rang and shooting but I won't be ready to drop $2k on firearm anytime soon.

So I've discover 3 possible airsoft options. Here are the links. In your opnions, which one is my best option?

Buy STTI Full Size Gas .357 Magnum Semi-Automatic Revolver Pistol - Silver | GG-102C at Airsoft Megastore

UHC Python 357 6" Spring Revolver Silver BTUA934SW | eBay

UHC Python 357 6" Spring Revolver Silver BTUA938S | eBay

I went with this one....

UHC Python 357 6" Spring Revolver Silver BTUA938S | eBay

It might not have the shiny impact of the STTI but I really like it, it looks the part in and out of the holster, it comes with fake shells and my tip bit was easy to remove (although I shall be carrying it around so I can put it on the gun should I be required to).

Yah I like that one the best but what about the orange tip? Does it look easy enough to remove? It looks much more difficult to remove and that kind of worried me.

There's really nothing to remove unless you want to trim the barrel extension a bit. The orange and chrome plastic appear to be one piece. I suppose You could paint the orange bit silver, but I left it because I don't any issues with real cops. BTW, they already think it looks "to real" even with the orange tip so I wouldn't go waving it around or pointing it at people.

One more thing... does it open up with "fake" shells?

No, the airsoft BBs load through a magazine cleverly disguised as the ejector rod (on a real Colt Python). Also, the cyclinder doesn't rotate. The only moving parts are the trigger and hammer.

After having a chance to look closer, the handle in your picture does not match the handle in the ebay auction. Where do you get your handle?
