"Vitameatavegamin" Idealized

So my girlfriend is a Lucy fanatic, and her favorite episode happens to be "Lucy Does a TV Commercial". Which is of course is the vitameatavegamin episode. I thought a bottle of it would make a cool christmas gift.

Except there's almost no reference of it. Working off a screen cap from the DVD:

Which shows the shape of the bottle in the background, as well as their illustration of it on the poster. Which happens to differ from this photo I found online at www.lucylibrary.com:

I think it might be blown up from a promotional still, but it shows some additional detail that the poster doesn't.

Based on those two photo's, and a couple times watching the episode through, I came up with this idealized version of the label.

The bottle is Canadian Club whiskey. It's just about the perfect shape, though I think it might be a bit smaller than the prop from the show.

I matched the logo typeface to Franklin Gothic, but I couldn't track down the lower face, which makes me think it might be hand drawn. I chose to use Franklin Gothic for the entire label.

The rest (especially the colors) is just my best educated guessing.

And speaking of, here's my completely made up label for the back, which includes a slight rewording of my monologue from the episode.

And to top it all off, here's a little presentation box I made for it.

Any coments or criticisms would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone has anymore reference on the label... it's way too late now. But I'd love to see it for any future revisions I might do.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think!

Your GF has good taste :)

The label looks great. I think they have a bottle at the Lucy museum at Universal. I may be going soon. I 'll take a look.

Looks great and the presentation box gives this piece that much more class paying homage to a great comic.

Bravo! :D

Oh man, she's gonna' flip over it, I bet. :lol

You did a wonderful job on that. Just wonderful.

I agree that you did a nice job. The presentation box is very nice.:thumbsup
It looks like the lettering of the main text is suppose to be the same font that I've been looking for from The Maltese Falcon. Man, it is impossible to find.

The Wolf

Now all you need is the GOOD TIMES version called "VITABRIGHT" - where little Michael gets toasted on the stuff - member?

Man, that is awesome! I've always wanted one of those and yours came out great!

Well done!!
-B89! :D

Who say's a diamond is a girl's best friend. What they really want is a bottle of Vitameatavegamin.:lol Great job.:thumbsup
I foresee these in the junk yard soon.

THats Classy and Creative!

Hell..I want one!

Another idea is to find the LUCY DOLL from that episode.
Frame it with her in it.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the kind words, and I hope everyone had a happy holiday!

Glim, that'd be great if you could get a shot of an actual bottle. I'd love to see how my interpretation holds up. Especially the color.

Wolf, do you have a clear shot with the text in it? Is it part of the title? I got the movie from netflix a couple weeks back and loved it, but the text doesn't really stand out in my mind. You might want to see if you can get a screen cap and submit it to whatthefont.com. I would have done that with the bottle, but the pic I have of it is just way too low res.

Jet, I don't think I've ever seen that episode of good times, but I'll have to look it up. That'd make a great companion piece to this bottle.

Brundelfly, My girlfriend actually has that doll, and to my surprise, it comes with a tiny little bottle. I have it here, but it appears that the design and shape are nothing like they appeared on screen. I'll take some pics for comparison purposes.

James, the funny thing about that, is I also bought her a camera for christmas, but she opened that up after. I guess I should have had her open them up in the reverse order. Sadly, I was to tired and lazy to have my camera out and take pictures.

Thanks again for all the kind comments guys! She really did love it, and has been following this thread as well. She loves that so many people actually have a clue as to what she means by Vitameatavegamin. LoL Apparently, no one where she works had any idea what she was talking about when she described her christmas present...
