Hey RPF Family! I finally completed my training in Visual Effects at Daemen College. The link to my final project is below. My film is called "WINGS". It is a 13 minute sic-fi adventure using models that I posted builds for here on the RPF.
What sets this project apart is that students are only required to demonstrate their skills in a single scene, roughly 10 seconds long. I told the instructor and department heads that I wanted to go all out and do a short film. They agreed, but they wanted me to come up with a story that features our location––Buffalo / Niagara Falls, New York––in some way.
My goal... I wanted to bring my studio-scale models into the studio to make them fly!
– The main ship in this story is the Ranger 3, Buck Rogers Shuttle by Timeslip Creations (Ranger 2 in my film)
– Mike Salzo's Col. Viper, which I bought from him at WonderFest a while back
– The Moebius studio-scale Cylon Raider and Galactica kits as well
– I created the Space Hangar in Maya, the first and only thing I ever made in this 3D program, but I want to learn more about it.
I came up with a story where I could use all of them. The film also includes aspects of Star Trek and 2001.
The project took 5 months to complete; filming, post production and editing. It would have been finished in May, but I set it aside to work on a documentary. I went back into the studio two weeks ago to finish. FINALLY, here it is...
