Vintage POTAs Model Kits by Addar NOW With Ursus.

I thought these were lost to time. Found them in a box that hasn't seen the light of day for 35 years.

These are some of the first model kits I ever bought and made. I was maybe ten or eleven. So be kind on the paint. Oddly enough I painted them but did not glue them together. They all still come apart. And the instructions are perfect.

There were seven.

1. Dr. Zaius
2. Cornelius
3. Dr. Zira
4. General Ursus
5. Caesar
6. General Aldo
7. Stallion & Soldier

Here is Caesar.

I'll shoot pics of the others if there's interest.

Lovely, it's great to see this vintage stuff :love

Re: Vintage Planet of the Apes Model Kits by Addar

Awesome model kits. I was a huge Planet of the Apes fan in my youth, actually I still am except for the Burton crap. I remember those kits well. I would like to see a pic of the Aldo or Ursus kit.

You had mad skillz as a 10 year old! I was never that good at that age.

Do you plan to re-paint them, or leave the memories intact?

Re: Vintage Planet of the Apes Model Kits by Addar

I was going to say that paint jobs look good.

Oh yeah, please! I had these kits too, but time was no so kind to them (my Mom either, heh heh). They are no more. To see them after all this time is SO COOL!!! And yes, great paint job!

Re: Vintage Planet of the Apes Model Kits by Addar

I agree with others' comments about the paint job. Quite something for 10 or 11.

Looking forward to pictures of the other kits as well.

Ted.

I love seeing these old kits, definitely like to see more. The paint work looks pretty good, much better than I did on my Six Million Dollar Man kits at the time :lol

I just knew you you had mad skillz at a young age.

I remember these well.

You have had me go down memory lane the last few days with your threads.

Thanks for bringing back a LOT of fond memorys!

Re: Vintage Planet of the Apes Model Kits by Addar MORE PICS!!

I had the Cornelius and Dr. Zaius kits when they were released back in the early 70s; never could find the others. Thanks to the Internet, I now have all of them except the General Ursus and Stallion & Soldier kits. Needless to say, I'm a fan, so post as many pics as you want MicD! (y)thumbsup

Re: Vintage Planet of the Apes Model Kits by Addar MORE PICS!!

These are so cool, I would have loved these as a kid (well, as a big kid too!)

Thanks for sharing

And General Ursus.

Here I learned how Flat, Semi-gloss, and Gloss combine to make depth.

Early weathering attempt. I still suck at weather.

Those are great! I had them all too, along with the Aurora monster series.

What a great time to be a kid. :thumbsup

Big POTA fan. I was really into it in the 70's when APEMANIA was going on. Had the Dr. Zauis kit. They were great kits. Not as good as can be done now, but for the time they were fantastic.

I have 45 models as of right now, but only a handful of the ones I had as a kid survived to this day. I think I've made about 200 or more over the years.

Thank Buddha my Flying Sub survived my Mom's yearly clean up frenzy.:lol
sadly, my apes were not so lucky.:cry
