Vintage Graflex V artist’s proof by Yoda

Hey all,
I wanted to share with everyone one of the sabers in my collection.
Back in 2009 I had close working relationship with Michael Murphy. ( Yoda at FX-Sabers ) which resulted in the acquisition of this prototype / Artist “proof of concept” number 001. This saber was the first to receive the fiber optic crystal chamber with the drilled crystals. Additionally, this particular vintage Graflex came from Michael’s personal collection and is closest to resemble the design the Star Wars Visual Dictionary ( at the time of its creation ).

Michael has described that he has only come across 3 vintages that are considered 9.9's. All three were converted to "show" pieces for his own personal collection. Out of this collection two of them were converted to static props meant for "behind glass" display. The third was converted to a working Vintage Graflex which was also meant for display.

This is that saber.

The lineage of this Graflex speaks for itself. I consider this to be the start of incredible engineering and superb detail leading to what he has created on his last ( latest ) Graflex. We have all seen the latest , but this marks the beginning, allowing us to truly see the full timeline of remarkable work.

*a side note about the display.. I remember him mentioning “I decided to make a special box that I may start offering with subsequent saber projects”
Although this is the first box, subsequent boxes were made of plexiglass to reduce the stress of shipping / glass breaking...
