Videobob's Delorean Time Machine

RPF members, please notice that I did not bring any drama here.
All I did was show off the work I have been doing which I think is the point of this forum.
I want to share my projects and offer my assistance to those who want it.
That's all.

There are people with agendas and most of those people are people who also do what I do and sell what I sell. I am not selling anything HERE.
It doesn't take a genius to read between the lines and see what these other people's agendas are.

Yes, I did make a re-cast of a FOUND PART.
That has been a debate for years.
I don't want to get into it because I have settled that dispute with the person
who originally casted the part, sold it to someone else, who sold it to me and told
me I could re-cast it 3rd party.
It was years ago and ancient history.

I am happy to have ANYONE come to my shop and see what I do and you can judge for yourself what I do and how I do it.

As far as my claim to have the most screen accurate replica of the Time Machine all I can ask is for someone to take the time to prove me wrong.
Produce photos of all the cars in question along with the original and compare.
I know what was done previous and what is on my car and I stand by my claim.

Regarding comments about Kevin Pike, yes he is my booking agent.
He books my cars for display gigs around the country.
He chose to work with me not only because of my quality work but my professionalism
and the results he gets from me as opposed to others he has to choose from.
If you really think 10% of a few hundred bucks here and there is worth him challenging his integrity to say things about my car that aren't true you are mistaken.
I earned every accolade.

I stand by my work and I am proud of it and I am not going to let some jealous wanna-be's rain on my parade.

Well said! I haven't seen any other replica time machines as great as yours with the sound fx, fog machines, etc. Time and work put into something this amazing shouldn't be criticized at all in my honest opinion. Keep up the great work VB!

The first replica ever built was by a man named JOE PACE back in 1985 when the movie premiered.
I think Bob Brandys followed up in 1987.
Doug Vaters built one that ended up with Mark Sheilds.
George Barris and Jay Orhburg have also been making replicas
for the park and private customers for years.
Danny Botkin started his build about the same time or before as
Gary Weaver's in 2003.
I began my build in late 2003 too.
Since that time I have built a total of 6 replicas.
Scott Doralaque built and sold his car by 2005.
Monte Chamos finished his car about 2005 too.
J Ryan and Joe Walser used to come to my website and make posts
and ask questions. There were parts of mine on both of their cars.
Their cars came way later than everyone else's.

With a little work I could put all of this into chronological order but I don't think it really matters who did it first, because who did it first was Kevin Pike and his team at Filmtrix.

I think the argument here is not who did it first but who did it better?
Joe's car was innovative at that time to have so many of the original hoses and connectors on his car, but with the exception of the working c02 nothing else on his car really functioned and there were a lot of missing parts and details.

Gary's / Evan's car was fantastic but it didn't have the real neon on it
and although it had a lot of detail work on it he didn't have same amount
of wire details that I put into my car.
I have yet to see as much girth put into the wires as I have.
Most builders cheap out and put about 1" of wire loom down the center,
I have the correct diameters of wire bundles with matching ties, etc.
I think the wire details is where I made up for a lot of my accuracy.

Like I said before, if someone wants to make a competition out of it simply prove me wrong with facts instead of opinions.
Compare the photos, the parts lists and make a spread sheet.
Then we will have something to go on.
If you want to make me eat my words then you need something more than a biased opinion.

Mostly an ego thing...and I'm betting that "every single build " you've seen is sourced back to one or two individuals. (guess which two)

The only one making it a competition is yourself and your self-righteous bravado.

Why anyone would waste time compiling photos and making spreadsheets to "prove it". It makes you sound like a 5th grader.

"Oh yeah?? Prove it!"

At least you have fun in fantasyland...er..I mean Texas. Seriously, fun is what it's about. It must be really FUN to put stuff up on Ebay claiming "real parts" then pull a bait and switch on them. Ha Ha...suckers!!!!

Oh jeez....so fun. :lol:lol

Alright guys, we have done enough to cause drama in here. Let him have his prop replica thread and we should leave it at that. If the people want to know the truth and all they can let their fingers do the walking we don't need to drum up a fight in here. I'm leaving this alone now.

Gary Weaver called me yesterday to tell me that he sent a letter to the modz here to let them know that any problems the two of us had were put to bed a long time ago and that he or myself are not causing any trouble here and it should not reflect badly on me what other people say on this thread or elsewhere.

I'm just trying to have some fun and show off my passion and share it with people who also enjoy this type of activity.
Sure, there is some bravado and strutting around but it is all in friendly fun.
Don't take it so seriously!
Thanks.

Hello buddy :)
Any chance of a run of the Deloreon's?? Haha :)
But it looks extremely impressive buddy, good job.
Kind regards Jason. :)

Ed, I appreciate the support, but I would like it if all the drama from other boards didn't follow me here. I find it an honor to be here and there are some great builders here.
I have a lot of friends and peers who are not part of the BTTF world who ARE a part of this forum.

There is a clear definitive line between the hobbyists and the professionals.
The people who do it for "hobby" do it for their own satisfaction and what they get out of it.

The "professionals" do it because it is a job, one that they chose and enjoy but it is still a job.

I am someone who was once a hobbyist who transitioned into a professional.
Building the props for TV, film and private collectors is my entire full time job now.
This will always breed jealousy from the hobbyist who wish they could do the same thing.
This insecurity surfaces in forums like these and that will always be the case
and just can't be avoided.
I have learned how to simply ignore it and that's all I can do.
I won't let them ruin my day or my business, so don't let them bother you either.

So there's a thought in time for ya.

Cant really put it any better than that :thumbsup
Kind regards Jason.

I almost thought about buying a GB proton pack from this guy, that is until I found he's a recaster....and a giant ****** to boot!

Gary acted like a true pro.

This guy is just an a**h***... I never met him, or had contact with him, but this video proves just one thing. He acted like a 5-year old child... Not cool... :thumbsdown

Good thing, he was banned...

If anyone is looking for a time machine and are considering this embarrassment of a person, research Adam Komtras and see how his dealings were even after being warned!

If you want the whole story head on over to the dmctalk forum. I think it really feels like Adam has some major buyers remorse. He was worrying about recouping a handful of parts that he had direct access to during a build visit but then decided after the fact that he had to have them all returned. He created an internet bomb and Bob did return what he could find. What was left only represented .3% of the total cost of the completed car. Adam continued to post anyway and the mods locked the thread.

It is easy to say it was videobob at it again. But I don't think so, this time.

Regardless of if it was Bob or his crew and regardless that Adam had the chance to get the parts when he visited, it still shows that Bob wasn't on the side of his customer that had paid him over $30,000. BTW...if .3% of $30,000 ($900) is a small number to you, would you mind sending me that amount to my paypal? I'll wait for it...

The facts are that Bob had most, if not all the parts that were shipped inside the car yet he put up such a stink about giving them back to Adam. There is no defense for that...

Maybe Adam could have gone about it a different way and maybe not.

I can't argue with that and I'm not saying it's all one sided either. Adam certainly could have gone about it differently. Same could be said for Bob. Either way it was a total train wreck over there on dmctalk.

Also not sure I had my decimal place in the right spot but the final value of what was not delivered was closer to $150.

Don't wait. lol. All incoming Paypal funds are now spoken for thanks to my DMC-12. Not complaining.

When is DMC talk ever not a train wreck when it comes to Time machines. LOL

I did see an itemized list of parts that Adam was requesting back with dollar amounts next to them and it added up to just over $2000. Not sure If it was an accurate estimate from Adam or not...
