VIDEO: the new owners of Darth Maul's screen used hero(?) saber

Christian Simpson and his wife Orly Schuchmacher won the recent Prop Store auction for the "hero" Darth Maul TPM saber. Their unboxing video, close-up shots, and even the serial/registration number on the prop are shown ....but it looks like a resin piece? I 'm far from a saber expert but I though the hero was metal? Well, see for yourself...

BTW: Christian was an extra in TPM, and he and his wife have provided background voices for several Star Wars films.

It kind of looks like resin to me. Wouldn't the hero version of every lightsaber be in the Lucasfilm archives?

The Hero prop was indeed resin. There was never a metal Maul hilt made as the components were cast from a generic thing made for multiple background hilts. Though, I do wonder where or how these Hero's end up in auction. You'd think these things were important enough to keep in the Archives.

It looks the same as, or similar to, a seller on Etsy. They sell a lot of different configurations.

My biggest question is which Hero did they get? It isn't the double ignition Hero. That one has a covertec knob. The one they have doesn't have a knob, or even a hole where a knob would have been.
