I find these reviews wonderful throwbacks to more simple times, when movies weren't spoiled beyond belief while still in production (before internet, before social media, and when cable TV was in its infancy) Last edited: Jul 2, 2021

When Star Wars came out many critics (were so biased against popular movies they) panned it as a mindless, violent special effects vehicle. Here's Siskel and Ebert defending The Star Wars franchise against one of these pretentious critics. Addendum: In looking up that video I just found out that the critic, John Simon, in that broadcast died in 2019. Rest in peace.
