Video game Dishonored guy

Hi, Im new here and working on this costume for my son. I cannot for the life of my figure out what this ball of metal thing is hanging down in front. I am working on the coat, and I think Ive got that down, and I also need to modify a plain skeleton mask to work with this.
I apologize, I see this image is huge and Im not sure how to resize it.

Has anyone here attempted this costume, or know what this metal ball is?

(Haven't played the game yet) But I believe that it might be the "heart" item you get to use. In the gameplay demo the devs use it to find items that you use to upgrade your powers. If you watch the youtube video you may be able to get a closer look?

Here's the vid, he uses it at 02:03.

It could very well be something else. I'm sure someone that's actually played the game can give you a better idea!

Oh and the Dishonored guy's name is Corvo Atano if that helps your search any! :D

Yeah, looks like a spring razor, as Spider M Mann said. I just started playing through this game last night, and it is ****ing AWESOME. Good luck on the costume build!

Thanks! All I got was this page torn out of the GameInformer magazine with a "here, mom, make this". :) I love to do costumes, I just usually have a little more to go on (like, for instance, a movie). Even having the name helps. I have had a hard time finding a close up of this thing.

I think that may be the "Spring Razor," one of the gadgets Corvo uses. Here is a pic from E3 2012 at the Bethesda Booth:

And here is a page that you may find helpful:

Lots of good pics of the items used in-game. Hope that helps!

Thanks! this helps a lot. Not sure how I will make it yet, without this close up I was thinking about a ball of saftey pins:) lol but evidently Im not going to get out that easily.
This actually looks like a fun costume. And he is excited about the coat. He has been bummed that he finally grew out of his Jack Sparrow coat from a few years ago, and wanted a new one.

Glad I could help. This certainly is a cool costume. The game designers described the styles as something like a futuristic steampunk, but not like the brass and steam of traditional steampunk styles.

Maybe different types of foams for the Spring Razor - something like blue insulation foam for the big chunky part, and foamies for the thin "blade" parts on top. (Just spitballin')

Good luck with this - post up some pix of the kid suited up when you get done. :)

What would you glue the foam together with? I am more used to hats, beads, corsets and waistcoats, lol. This is new to me.

Oh, I think regular white glue, or maybe super glue would probably work; you'll just want to stay away from solvent-based glues, as they will "eat" the foam. Test different types and see what works best. Just be sure to glue before paint - the glue won't stick well to paint.

I was just throwing an idea out there - others may have better ideas for materials to use. I just figured foam is nice and light, so your son didn't have a big heavy thing hanging from his neck the whole time he's wearing the costume.

Take a poke around the forum to see what others have used for similar projects; there is a wealth of knowledge here. Try the search feature with various keywords for any ideas you have.

Think ive got it and I'm set for the coat, vests /waistcoat, and I'm trying to figure out what style shirt should go under it all.
