Vehicle replicas

Cool!

When is someone gonna do a 1:1 working (as in at least looks like and rolling) Spinner?

Ain't me, lucky if I can shwing getting in on the $1 saber contest in time...

We should have a sub-forum for Replica Vehicles. There seem to be more than enough movie/TV vehicles to replicate, and a lot of people are already ahead of the curb with these amazing replicas.

Thats amazing. I have ALWAYS wanted to recreate the Mad Max Black on Black Interceptor. Man.....

Anyone want to loan me 30K? Ill start tomorrow!

Id be very keen to do a spinner replica.

If anybody can point me in the direction of where there is some decent info, please let me know. I did have a link for a re-build/resto of a spinner in Gene's old workshop, but the link is now lost, for instance.
Are the 'blueprints' still around?

Dan.

Now, THAT's a section I would love to see on here. Saves from having to weed through 1000's of posts to see if someone has something like that posted online.

Great stuff that! Street legalness is impressive, I remember the 'Who-Mobile' the 3rd doctor drove around was made street legal, but was still always stopped by the cops...

Has anyone atempted to make a KIFT from Knight Rider 2000?

Working on it.

Just finished my Knight 2000 replica. Next year (Hopefully) should bring the Knight 4000.

Here is some sneek peeks.

That is a FANTASTIC mold, did you have blueprints or just work of visual information?

If your refering to the 4000, it is a body pulled from the actual mold Jay
Orberg's shop made for the movie. They had sold the mold off quite a
few years back and it made it rounds between different people. I knew
someone who had it for a while and we pulled a full body and wings from
it before he sold it off.

I believe the mold is back in Jay Orbergs hands now though. It may look
good (to some, LOL) on screen but there is nothing evenly sculpted on
this entire body. Our plans our to cut it up, graft the body to a Dodge
Stealth (Car used in the film) and totally rework to body so everything
is even and properly shaped.

It will take some work and who knows how much time but it will get
done. This car (as it sits) will never be road legal, so we are not in as
big of a rush on getting it done. Our other Knight Rider projects have
taken presidence over this car.

Not sure how finiliar you are with the Knight 4000 but this body was
pulled from the mold before Universal made them change the look of
the car because it looked to similar to the Pontiac Banshee concept car
(which is what they wanted to use for the film, but Pontiac said NO!)

You will see the front end on this one is not the blunt rounded nose
they ended up with in the movie. They went in later and filled the whole
front end in to make it all rounded out. The rear wing was also originally
two wings with a space between the two at the back. That was also
changed to a full wrap around piece.

Only two cars (and one boat) were made for the film. Other than my body
here, I am not sure if any others were ever pulled from the mold. The
two cars were sold on ebay and were in pretty bad shape. The self driving
version has been fully restored by Orbergs shop and the other one sits
somewhere in New England and from what I hear, is just rotting away. I
don't know who owns it though.

The 4000 was used in the Knight Rider 2000 movie, the Chip's 99 movie,
a few episodes of one of the Power Ranger series (painted up as Police
Cars) and the last I know of it's use, before being sold on ebay, is an
episode of Scare Tactics on Sci-Fi.

I am sure once we get around to working fully on the project, I'll be
posting progress pictures on the board. It's all a point of time, money aand the weather.

I remember it being used in a few other things and the Pontiac People saying they didn't want it modeled directly off the Banshee. I'm guessing the shell you got is fiberglass. What are you going to use as a base? You going to do the interior as well? It should be a bit easier to KIFT rather than KITT's interior.

I remember it being used in a few other things and the Pontiac People saying they didn't want it modeled directly off the Banshee.

Basically, the story is this: Back when the original series started to air, a lot of people would go to Pontiac dealerships and ask for Trans-Ams with black exteriors, tan interiors and "the red light on the bumper." Due to the constant requests, the company contacted Universal and the production company and politely asked them to no longer refer to the car as a "Trans-Am" or the Pontiac brand. That is why the first season has references to Trans-Am and Pontiac while the later seasons have KITT refered to as a "black T-Top."

The studio was unable to use the real Pontiac Banshee IV concept car for the movie as they wanted (due to what happened during the original series), so instead it hired Jay Ohrberg Star Cars Inc. to customize a 1991 Dodge Stealth for the Knight 4000.

But there is one truth about KITT. One truth that will never be forgotten:

I think I know who you got this 4000 mold from, this goes on a dodge stealth right? also curious where you got you black and white panels for your 2000...I used to laser cut these for someone that used to sell them back in the late 90's through I'd say around 2005

What the car company could not bother to give the customers what they wanted :confused . So some dimbulb says, stop talking about us people are asking us to make a car for them. :unsure

Will,

If your refering to the overlays for the electronics, I make all those myself. They are indeed laser etched and cut. I have been doing them for the better part of 5 years for people.

I have made hundreds of sets of both dash version but recently have stopped production on them.

Now that my car is finished, I am moving on to bigger and better things.

:love
