Here's my nearly completed pistol. I have to wet sand one surface and respray with Semi-gloss, but otherwise its done. Note that what you're looking at is acombination of painted surfaces, and the original resin as cast by Matt. Check out the gain in the steel, evident in this superlative cast. I also weighted it with lead shot,so it has just about the same weight as a loaded pistol.

I cannot speak highly enough of this item. the casting is near perfection, the subject matter is fantastic, the cost value was one of the best ever, and its just plain FUN.

MAN... that is a thing of beauty :love congrats on your purchase.

I'm saving up to get one myself but would like to order some other bits from Matt and get it all shipped at once.

Matt is truly a master of casting, his work is amazing.

Cheers,

Kraig

That's a nice piece. Are there any moving parts?

Excellent idea. I should go back and modify the BSG blaster that I got from him. :)

No moving parts... But weighting resin weapons has become an addictive habit. I have a five-pound Battle Droid blaster.

Thanks guys.

The top three facets of the slide were painted with Wrought Iron Black (my secret formula for guns -- we all have our own little tricks.), wet sanded to 2500 and hit with Testor's semi-gloss. Had to paint this area due to the almost non-existent seam line.

On the left side of the gun, I was able to retain the original resin finish on all the vertical surfaces (with the gun held true), including the grain of the steel, the S&W stamp, and serial number.

On the right side, due to a minor f*ck-up, I had to paint the vertical surfaces (except for the side of the slide) and pretty much wiped out the S&W logo... :unsure :angry

But overall, I'm happy that I was able to retain most of Matt's original resin finish. He used a dark gray (nearly black) toned resin which is perfect, and thankfully my paint work blends almost seamlesslessly with the raw resin...

Beautiful finish, PHA, and a terrific cast from Matt. Those grain lines in the "steel" are amazing. :eek :thumbsup

PHA - what is the weight of the real thing? I wanna ballast mine up too.

I haven't painted mine at all, just wet sanded/polished the necessary areas.
