Yeah, those and the reference photos I've been sharing have gone out there and gotten crazy. I don't understand how they get resized and made more crappy in quality though. What's the point of that?

Well, I made a silly mistake: I ordered the wrong buttons [emoji21]
The buttons that arrived were from the Graflex Shop and were the thumb screw type that don't fit a real Graflex! Disappointment all over.
I still have to order the correct ones now, or produce my own [emoji1]

I doubt Roy will answer soon ... he's fast asleep now and will be pre-occupied with his core business being a Production Designer for the next couple of weeks ... I do believe member Clutch had a tutorial involving a mitre-saw ... how to cut T-track ... but I can't seem to find it ... sorry :)

X-acto makes a nice one that comes in a kit with the saws. I think I got mine at Ace hardware. The angles on it were perfect for the ANH grips.

I believe the clutch tutorial was on the bubble strip (you provided it to me in another thread on another forum) but Roy himself already provided the answer on the T track

Thanks guys. I have seen GINOs post before, but was looking for any experiences with Roy's tracks specifically in case of material differences. But it sounds like they should be similar enough to use the aforementioned methods.
intwenothor I was looking for options for cutting the ANH angle specifically. I have read Roy's awesome ESB tutorial before, but he doesn't go into the options when cutting the angle on his tracks.

I don't have a good miter box, so it sounds like I may invest in one... :)

They're pretty much the same honestly. They cut about the same, and bend about the same when making e11 grips.

@SpeedRacerx I guess you already figured it out by now, Like PoopaPapaPalps already mentioned, you can simply use a file (or knife) to cut the corners for the Luke ANH grips.

Hi Roy, love your work, and for anyone wondering about just how accurate you can reverse engineer from a photo, well Roy has a talent. When discussing the possible origin of the ANH D ring, his measurments from the toe shot photo, are almost exact to a D ring found on a Graflex camera case, which may have been the source.

As for you ESB circuit board, I am wondering if the contacts need to be more of a gold colour than copper, from the photos of the promo shot they look more gold, but that can be photography as well.

Look forward to your other products.

    Thank you Aison!
I agree on the ESB circuit board; the contacts are currently in copper, but I might try to gold plate them in the future. Maybe offer both versions, since gold plated doesn't come for free I guess! :D

I re-did one using a gold paint pen and soldered the silver bits. It come out ok. I am gonna redo it, but mask up each tab one by one and do a neater job. Great idea about offering both, some of us are more hardcore and ready to fork, or force out the bucks:D

my red button replicas as from a old run, they don't have springs in them. they used a crumbled up piece of paper to act like the spring lol

my plan was to go to radio shack and see if I could get a small enough push button to fit inside the red button and epoxy it in

now with all the local radio shacks closing I don't know where to go to find one small enough

I'm curious about the saber hooks. They are made of stainless steel but will they bend out of shape when a lightsaber is hooked and unhooked? Also will they bend out of shape when bending at the waist? In other words would they stay bent if flexed too much or would they spring back to hold their shape?

    Hi Psab keel,

The hooks are actually very strong and won't just bend by using them.
But I haven't used them intensively on a belt myself, maybe someone else has. They are not made from spring steel, but again, they are very strong indeed.
If you buy it and you're not pleased, I will refund you.

So Roy and I got to meet today ... doing some research and developement for possible MPP/Heiland parts ... Roy also brought some goodies around Kylo Ren 3D printed in black, his G R A F L E X Luke ESB and 5Cell broad sword seen here amongst my many Vader sabers :

One of which a true vintage MPP ... 'Which one is it ?' :

Some measurements taken of a Heiland conversion, this is going to be slow progress and some serious thoughts about costs vs. demand :

At least the shroud is coming together in 3D ... don't turn it on though ... oops ... having a great time :

Thanks Roy ... for a great afternoon :)

Indeed there's plenty of props, costumes, modelships, action figures, custom made stuff and merchandise, some of which still packed and sealed in my attic. . . . people don't call it a STAR WARS MINI Museum for nothing when entering my living room . . . and then there's dwarfs, smurfs, witches, Asterix figures, trolls and all kinds of cartoon figures too ... and I'm planning something special to celebrate my 50th birthday in November ... so fingers crossed we get approval to execute order 69 :lol

    Thnx for the uproot ;)

Well, it is clear by now that the T-track was a draft excluder profile, presumably from a car, which was purchased by his production buyer and came on a roll (meaning it must have been flexible) and was indeed flexible enough to bend into shape on the Sterling machine-gun.
So no cabinet door sliders! No windscreen wipers!
Exciting!! The hunt is on again!

    Re: Various OT lightsaber parts

Interesting so, it sounds like it was a trim piece that blocked air coming through on cars. My bet is that it would be found around doors, sunroofs, maybe even convertible car tops. And maybe from an MGB or Mini, it would make sense that it would be a British make since they had access to rolls of it.

If that's what it turns out to be, that's hilarious. When I was looking for something. Like t track for a custom saber, I looked at tons of car weather stripping as an option.

If I wasn't out of town if head over to British motors (ar restoration place in vancouver) right now.

    Re: Various OT lightsaber parts

I checked several vintage Mini restoration websites for something that fit the description. Most of the images are terrible and impossible to tell what the profile is. I tried check MGB parts websites but they are even worse. More than likely it's going to take some foot work by someone in the UK to find it, there aren't many shops in the US that would carry that stuff in stock.

Side note, I just picked up a Heiland Synchronar for next to nothing at an antique shop today, I plan to make it a Vader Saber.

It's interesting that it came in a roll. I'd always wondered about car parts. I believe I read in another thread about them being brown as well?
And flexible too... The other day at work I spotted some brown plastic but flexible T track in a pile of dust and junk that the house keeping lady was sweeping up. Don't ask if it'd fit the bill, definitely not, but kind of a funny coincidence I think. Ended up grabbing it and using it on my custom saber.
House keeping lady looked at me like I was crazy ;)
