Something I got to have a lot of fun with was the backplate. I don’t have any great reference of the piece, and only a vague idea that there are some damaged spots. I chose to make them fun little blaster hits.

I have since gotten some better info and have changed a few things to make any future armor sets even closer to the real thing.

Some amazing work here. I'm trying to compile a list of the correct colour shading for each part of the Eps 1-3 Din before weathering. I've had it on good authority that Montana Gold, Chestnut (pictured) is the go to for the correct base colour of the screen costume chest/back/guantlets etc but wanted to ask what you used or if you knew the correct colours for the other pieces e.g. thigh, shoulder, hips, hands?
Thanks

I use Montana Shock White Cream and Bermuda for the hand plates.
Sahara Beige is what is commonly used for the shoulder and thigh as it’s correct to the Shoretrooper canonically but its not entirely accurate to what they did for the show. That said, I do still use it as it looks damn good, and I prefer it to the real color used.
Blue Knee is Mt Fuji.
I custom mix the rest, including the gauntlets, shin, chest, and back. All of the Red/brown parts are not one color, they are very layered.

As a side note, I recommend cracking the cans open and spraying the paint with an HVLP if you can. If not, at the very least buy some different spray caps. The “Level 4 cap” is a good one. The stock caps seem to want to clog and sputter a lot, and you can also get a dry dusty finish if you aren’t spraying them right.

My take on the Remnant Trooper. The ones in the show felt very “airbrushed” to me. I wanted a gritty dirty look so I used my old friend oil paint.

aaah crap , now I need 5 remnant lids for spikes in my theater/ prop room.
freaking spot on amazing as per usual.
what helmet is that?
Excellent job on the Remnant Trooper. What did you use as the base helmet?

Which version was used on the show?

Thanks. The base was an Anovos helmet.

I’ve seen a few people say the ones in the show are Anovos as well and I would tend to agree.

More shots of the EFX.

The clear coat on this one fought me a lot. I painted four helmets total in this batch and this was the only one that had issues which was strange. Nevertheless, a few surface imperfections aside, I think we got there in the end. I have two more scheduled and then I’m never touching the EFX again. Just not worth the time and effort for a cast that honestly isn’t all that great.

The folks wanting the most screen accurate licensed collectible Mando with roots to the original that get your paintjob are getting the best there is.
You should be numbering the EFX's you paint 1 of …… now THAT will be small exclusive batch!

I’m closing the book on Mandalorian helmets for the time being. I expect to open up to them again sometime after season 2, but for now I need to take a short break and get back to some other commission paint work. I crave variety and I just don’t get that painting the same helmets every week.

Here is a helmet for my own collection. Finished with 5 other helmets in my last batch. I’ll snap photos of it on the chest display at some point and update here. I also added a cellphone pic that I thought was nice at the end.

Hope you folks have enjoyed watching my work on these, and hopefully when I come back I can keep pushing them to be even better, even cleaner, that is the goal. Always moving forward. This is the way.

Agreed. Mr Mold maker you know I love mine and I always love your painting posts, I am glad to see you have one now for yourself. I know season 2 has only had one trailer ,but are you considering a different finish that reflects the feel of season 2 when you start back up ?
My pic is not even close to the quality you take but here is mine where it sits most of the time. I call it "Beskar and BFG"

Thank you for your support buddy. From what I’ve seen the season 2 helmet looks a lot less weathered. There is also another small difference but it is negligible. If anyone wants a cleaner helmet to reflect season 2 I would be happy to finish it that way, but I really do love doing the faded out heavier weathering.
