Hey folks. I figured it was time to stop bombarding the Mandalorian reference thread with my work, and instead, to compile it all into one place. Here I will share various things, from armor, blasters, helmets, and whatever else Mando related happens to come across my workbench.

I have finished 15+ helmets at this point so I won’t be sharing all of them, but I will add a few that I really liked to start off below.

Here is one of the more recent helmets I finished. This is a cast by Bobamaker. Painted with Alumaluster and weathered with oil paints. I’ve described my paint application in greater detail in the Mandalorian Reference Thread, please check it out if you have any questions.

The photo of four helmets shows my most recent batch, the Bobamaker, an L.E. Props helmet, and two from Sean B

I have finished up three full sets of the Episode 1-3 armor. The first set was from Plastic Arms Dealer, and the second two were from Reel Props. Unfortunately there are a LOT of photos, so I’ll have to break this into several posts.

The first set I received had to be completely finished and returned in two weeks. It was a huge challenge and I still can’t believe I was able to do it. All of the trial and error, including every paint test, happened in this span of two weeks.

Something I got to have a lot of fun with was the backplate. I don’t have any great reference of the piece, and only a vague idea that there are some damaged spots. I chose to make them fun little blaster hits.

I have since gotten some better info and have changed a few things to make any future armor sets even closer to the real thing.

The rifle is very hard to photograph. I have a 50mm lens with no zoom, so getting it all in one picture was impossible. I have a video on my Instagram that shows it a little better.
I believe the files were the free Rob Pauza files. They aren’t quite accurate, but it was fun to paint nevertheless.

I’ve also done a few blasters, including two of the Fieldmarshall Aluminum ones. I no longer take them for finishing. The real blaster isn’t just black like a lot of folks have been painting them. It is a very hard color to match, and I admit I have not been completed successful so far. I hope to test more with them in the future, but for now here is my personal blaster next to the stunt one.

I suppose Baby Yoda counts as well, as it is technically Mandalorian paint work. This one was beautifully sculpted by our very own TheMasterEdi on this board. You may be familiar with his Melted Darth Vader helmet. My main reference on this was the Sideshow prototype that was produced by Legacy.

I painted hands and feet to go with the little guy as well, but I can’t seem to find the photos.

With all of that past work out of the way, we can move on to current work. Right now I’m focused on a set of Beskar armor. Cast by Justin Branfuhr from Darren Pattenden’s (Great Ape Studios) 3D files.
I have the rest of the non-Beskar pieces mostly finished up, just waiting for a new paint for the shin armor to come in, and then all of those pieces will be getting their weathering.

Future posts will include another set of Beskar armor, as well as a full Anovos helmet repaint, so keep an eye out if you’d like to see them! A little further down the road will be EFX helmet repaints. I’d appreciate it very much if you would consider following me on Instagram as well. Instagram.com/JackRupert133
I post a lot of my finished work there first.

Not to discredit the amazing work you did on ALL pieces but that back beskar piece for me stands out. The way the light hits the weathering is just beyond amazing!

What is your technique for getting all the different darker colors and droplets on top of the base coat for the non beskhar thigh? For me, weathering is perfect when it doesn't look like it's trying to replicate something, and when it looks random/accidental. I think you nail that on every piece.

I appreciate the kind words. The weathering is just multiple passes of oil paints thinned with Naptha. I like to brush it on and remove it with a rag, and speckle it by flicking thinned out colors on with a brush. You get different effects with the speckling depending on how dry the previously laid down oil paint is so it’s fun to play with.

What are the base colors for your rt thigh, the shin guards, looks to be some reddish and rusty colors?...

I layered several different colors. A dark red, a muted orange, and a brighter orange. I built them up back and forth with my HVLP gun until it had the right tone.

Here are the non-Beskar pieces that go with the above Beskar armor. This will be off to its owner soon and if I get any costume photos I will definitely ask for permission to post them here.
